I would appreciate any further information about the Fairleys in Wellfleet and Falmouth, particularly VRs for Samuel and Caroline. Rev. Samuel Fairley was born about 1825 in Ireland, a Minister of Independent Chapel in March, Cambridgeshire, UK in the 1861 census, minister at Wellfleet First Parish (Congregational) about 1868-1874, and minister at Second Congregational, Falmouth (East End, or Hatchville) from Aug. 1877 to his death by drowning, Aug 19, 1881. He was a widower, with son Joseph William born in 1857, when he married Caroline Cole in 1861. She was born in 1838 in March, Cambridgeshire. They had children Grace E in 1862, Edwin in 1864, and James A in 1865, in England. They had Annie Louise in 1868 in Philadelphia, and Samuel Cole in 1869 in Wellfleet. This whole family was together in 1870 in Wellfleet, and in 1880 in Falmouth for the census. All of the sons became ministers and teachers in NY and NJ, and the daughters became teachers in NY. Sources: the English information is from an email correspondent, the Cape ministry info from Deyo (1890), and family info from the census and Mass. VRs. The brothers are mentioned several times each in the New York Times from about 1898-1949, and a few times in the Boston Globe. -- Sincerely, David Kew
