To answer the Rev. Joel Keith's request for information on Josiah Chase of Yarmouth........ <<<<<Could someone who has the VR book (or other sources)for Yarmouth please lookup the following individual for me? Josiah CHASE/CHACE b. abt. 1786, Yarmouth, MA son of Micajah/Micaiah CHASE/CHACE & Hannah SHOVE. They were a Quaker family. Josiah m. Charity TILLY in Douglas, Worcester Co., MA on 29 Feb 1816.>>>>> According to Chase records from "Some of the Descendants of William Chase of Roxbury and Yarmouth, Mass.", your Josiah Chase was born to Micajah Chase (and Hannah Shove) "of Swansea" (Massachusetts). He was not born in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Cape Cod. Most of the Quaker Chases were descended from those who had left the Cape early on and settled in the Swansea area. They later became "Chaces". The same reference calls Josiah "of Coventry, RI", and says he m. (no location given) 29 Feb 1816, Charity FULLER. There are no birth dates given for Josiah or his siblings Lydia, Mercy and Nathaniel. (Lydia m. in Swansea, Mercy d. unmarried, and Nathaniel is called "of Uxbridge" [relatively close to Douglas, MA where Josiah is said to have married].) Swansea VRs say that "Micajah Chase of Swanzey and Hannah Shove of Dighton was married at Swanzey September ye 9:1779 by me Levi Wheeton Justice of peace in Swanzey". Swansea is in Bristol County, Massachusetts. Judy Chace Needham
