Myers FL and formerly of Chesterland & Chardon area in Ohio, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Barnstable, MA. He was born October 15, 1913 in Jefferson, OH the son of Norman & Maude (Mullen) Cowles. He was a 1941 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Business & Electrical Engineering. He worked for 33 years as an engineer for Nela Park General Electric plant. In 1975 he received his teaching certificate from Kent State University and taught several years at the Auburn Rd. Vocational School. He was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church in Chardon, where he was one of the founding members. He also served on the Bishop's committee. He was also a member of St. Mary's Church in Estero, FL. He was also a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club. He did so much in life and enjoyed every moment. He spent his life teaching family, friends, employees and students the important things in life. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and a true "Good Samaritan" to those who needed help. We shall all miss him here, but heaven is a richer place with him there. Survivors include three children, Cheryl (Jim) Saker of Omaha, NE, Christine (Jon) Ewing of Dayton, OH & Bruce (Laura) Cowles of Boiling Springs, PA, eight grandchildren, Jamie, Rob, Jason, Andrea, Cortney, Benjamin, Jordan & Joel, two great-grandchildren and a special friend Ruth Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Frances, second wife, Shirley & a brother Raymond. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Rd., Chardon, Geauga, OH with Fr. John Hayden officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, 326 N Market Street, Jefferson, OH 44047. (440) 576-3782 No visitation will be observed.
