His first wife was Rebecca Simonson, daughter of Moses and Sarah (___) Simonson, whom he married about 1636. His second wife, whom he married by 1679, was Esther, widow of Samuel Samson. She was long thought to have been a daughter of Samuel Nash, but no proof was ever found for that assumption. My notes indicate that more recent research suggests that she was Esther Delano, daughter of Philip and Hester (Dewsbury) Delano. Those notes refer to a work I have not seen - Muriel Curtis Cushing, "Philip Delano of the 'Fortune' 1621 and His Descendants for Four Generations" (Plymouth, MA: General Society of Mayflower Descendants, 1999, 2002). If anyone has a late edition of the first Soule pink booklet they can tell you the current state of research on Esther's surname. Dale H.
