OK folks, this one will be a little more personal than the one I just sent on request of RootsWeb, which was written by them. I don't like "canned" letters, but this will give you something of an overview of what will happen. Briefly, here is the story. As some of you may know, RootsWeb is changing to a new e-mail system called "Mailman" that, once we get used to it, should be better than the old system they have used for a number of years now. I have offered to be one of the BETA testers for it, and I have chosen this list to use because it is one of my more active ones, and you folks generally work very well together and as a result, this list works pretty much as a list should. As a result, we will be part of the testing for the new system. Tomorrow or Wednesday, this list will migrate to the Mailman system on RootsWeb, which simply means the entire list will transfer to a new server along with a number of others. You as subscribers should not see any major changes, but there will be a few that are outlined in the message I just sent to you. Please contact me at any time, but keep in mind that I am also learning as well. If I do not know the answer to your question, I am being provided some tools during the testing process that should get an answer for you. Please read all information you have sent and will be sent during this test, and feel free to ask me if you do not understand something or need clarification. You will always receive a response as soon as I can reply, but please keep in mind I am a volunteer and do have "a real job" and family as well so please be patient. :~) I thank you for being a part of the test. . .even if you didn't know anything about it until it was dropped on your lap.
