Winifred: I descend from Samuel Cobb's half-brother John Cobb. I'm not clear from your message what record proof you are looking for, but her are a few things from my notes. I believe proof that he was the son Henry Cobb's 2nd wife Sarah Hinckley comes from his being mentioned in his grandfather Samuel Hinckley's 8 Oct 1662 will. The births of ten of Henry's children from both wives at Plymouth, Scituate and Barnstable between 1632-60 were recorded in PCR 8:42. He is mentioned in his father's will dated 4 Aprill 1678 and proved 3 June 1699. Some sources for info on the Cobb family: The Great Migration Begins...by Robert Charles Anderson Plymouth Colony, Its History and People 1620-1691 by Eugene Stratton Records of Barnstable MA CD from NEHGS >From the Great Migration: Samuel m. Barnstable 20 Dec 1680 Elizabeth ______ , said to be Elizabeth Taylor dau of Richard Taylor (Otis 1:173). So it seems that Elizabeth's maiden name being Taylor is not proven. >From Otis, Amos, Genealogical Notes of Barnstable Families, being a reprint of the Amos Otis Papers, originally published in the Barnstable Patriot, revised by CF Swift, Volume 1 and 2, Barnstable, MA, The Patriot Press, 1888: Samuel was a farmer and resided in the lower part of the town, and built a house on the six acre lot that was his father's in corner of the land, on the west side of the lane leading to Indian lands. He soon after built a two-story house, a little further west o the same spot where the late farmer Joseph Cobb's house stood, which was taken down about 1805. He m. 20 Dec 1680, Elizabeth Taylor, dau of Richard "the Tailor". He died 27 Dec 1727, aged 73. Children: Sarah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Henry, Samuel, Mehitable, Experience, Jonathan, Eleazer, Lydia. Elizabeth died 4 May, 1721. Know nothing about Elizabeth's parents. Their son, Henry Cobb was born 17 Feb. 1687, married 31 July 1731 to a Jemina Morse, b 9 Apr. 1706 in Sherborn, MA. Second marriage for Henry? On another side of the family I am related to the Morse from Swansea, MA. (William Morse and Mary Eddy) Jemina Morse was the daughter of a Noah Morse(Sherborn, MA) and Mary Johnson. In Swansea I found some records that were certified by the town clerk. If anyone could help me I would appreciate.
