It can be found on the menu page of <rootsweb.com>. Put in the name James Clarke (the "e" was used in Rhode Island. You will probably get thousands of hits. Go to the bottom of the page and use the form to put in more specific information, such as birth 1780 range 20 years, place of birth Rhode Island. I did this and found several James Clarkes. James Clarke and Penelope Church Clark, with children James and Charles Clark (Charlestown, R.I. ) Database code: lataylo6280. Another is a James Clarke b. 12 Oct. 1772 in Richmond, Washington Co., R.I. son of James Clarke and Elizabeth Kenton. Database Code kinship Note: The information is not documented. You can contact the submitter or research the names yourself. The info does provide clues. Also, part of Rhode Island was in Massachusetts in the Colonial period. I don't remember exactly when.
