Hi, sorry for holiday delay in responding to your query. A William Palmer, born abt 1581 in England, and Wife Frances ---, married about 1610, came over on the Fortune in 1621. His first residence was Plymouth, then removed to Duxbury. He died 1637/8. Married 2nd before 1637 Mary ---. [Sketch from Anderson, Great Migration Begins] Anderson gives a "Bibliographic Note: In 1956 Florence Barclay produced the definitive article on William Palmer, resolving many of the outstanding problems, outlining the careers of the two sons of the immigrant named William, and pointing out several errors in Savage, particularly the mixing of son William (b. 1612) with the man who went to Newtown, Long Island [TAG 32:39-45]. The other William (yours, I guess) is listed in Torrey Marriages as: PALMER, William ( d. bef 1661) & Judith [FISKE], m/2 Jeffrey FERRIS by 6 Jan 1664, m/3 John BOWERS ca 1666-7; ca 1637?, 1639?; Yarmouth/Dartmouth/Newtown, LI {Reg. 40:271; TAG 26:95, 183, 27:69, 32:41, 36:241; NYGBR 11:71, 63:360, 64:30; Newtown LI 26, 31, 43, 59; Miner Anc. 142; Messenger (ms); Messenger (1948) 11; Reynolds (1924) 31 (wrong); Yarmouth 68} The NEHGR 40:271 citation is: New Engl Gleanings: "Lt Robert Feke of Watertown in N.E. gent, and William Palmer of Yarmouth and Judith his wife, and Tobias Feke, age 17, son and daughter of James Feke, late of London, goldmsmith, deceased, make Tobia Dixon of London their attorney" Selleck, Lllian, "One branch of the Miner Family. 1928, page 142 has a sketch of William Palmer; Lieut. Willliam (1) Palmer appeared in Yarmouth as early as Jan 1639, and resided there until 1652. He married Judith Feake, born about 1620, daughter of James Feake, goldsmith, of London Engl. Palmer was a Deputy to the Plym Gen Cout, and was apptd Lieutenant 1642 under Capt Miles Standish. In 1653 he moved to Newtown , Long Island. Died between 1659 and 1661. Children: William m Mary (Terrill) Tyler of Milford Ephraim m Sarah Messenger James of Greenwich, d 28 Feb 1717, m Sarah Denham Joseph, m Elizabeth Tyler Judith, m John Reynolds. No Susannah. A marriage is listed for a Susannah Palmer on LI in Torrey Marriages. MILLS, Samuel (1632-1727) & Susannah [PALMER]; ca 1659; Jamaica, LI {Keeler-Wood 91-92; Reg. 14:106} The NEHReg article at 14:106 is a sketch of "Mills - Jamaica on Long island. death of Samuel Mills of this Place, Yeoman who was born in America) aged ninety five years. He lived sixty eight years with one Wife, who is still alive, by whom he had Sixteen Children. . . His Wife was Deliver'd of a Child when she was One and Fifty Years of Age. -- Boston News Letter 1727 No 14" Josephine Frost in Ancestry of Evelyn Wood Keeler, 1939, pg 91 says Samuel Mills son of George and Rebecca Mills, born 1632, where not found, married Susanna Palmer, "whose ancestry has not been satisfactorily settled, but Book 2, B of Greenwich Conn Deeds, states that Samuel Mills and his wife Susanna of Jamaica, LI give to their son Sameul, one sixth of the land which was granted 'to our brother John Palmer decesed of Greenwich." Hist of Wethersfield Conn states that John Palmer was a possible brother of Henry and was there in 1657. I do not have access to the TAG references. I can't tie Susanna to William. Hopefully this gives you a few more clues. Regards, Bob Bob & Dee Carroll.
