Thank you for any info on them Jim
jcovel, My Covel ancestor is SARAH COVEL who married Ansel ELLIS at Wellfleet 27 Sept. 1792. Ansel Ellis died 1813 at Charlestown, Mass. Sarah COVEL Ellis lived at Swampscott in her later years and is in the Swampscott Cemetery. I believe that her brother is THOMAS HOPKINS COVEL who married Bethiah DOANE, 25 Dec. 1794 Wellfleet. Thomas COVEL moved to Hardwick/Petersham/Dana, Mass. and was lost in in New York in the War of 1812. Their parents? Could they be Philip COVEL and Rebecca HOPKINS who married at Eastham 19 Dec. 1754? Evidence that Sarah COVEL (Mrs. Ansel Ellis) and Thomas Hopkins COVEL are related is a deed. They sold land at Eastham and Wellfleet. I would like to have a birth record for Sarah COVEL and for her brother Thomas Hopkins Covel. Their births were not recorded at Wellfleet. Bethiah Doane is related to Dr. David Doane, as I recall. Sarah COVEL'S children are recorded under her husband's name, ANSEL ELLIS, at Wellfleet: Benjamin Franklin Ellis (died young), Betsey Ellis, Mehitible or Hitty Ellis married Moses NESBITT, Olive Ellis married Abraham RICH, Sarah Ann Ellis married Allen Holbrook BACON, in July of 1822. Allen Holbrook Bacon and his cousins the Atwoods (Stephen and Hawes), all of Wellfleet, Boston, Chelsea, and Everett, owned the Union Oyster House in Boston and other oyster houses named - Atwood and Bacon Oyster House. Allen Holbrook BACON is the son of Freeman Bacon and Huldah HOLBROOK of Wellfleet. Freeman Bacon is the son of John Bacon of Barnstable and Joanna LANMAN (widow of Mr. Foster of Plymouth. Joanna Lanman's mother is Joanna Boylston, daughter of Tomas BOYLSTON of Boston.
