Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0EB.2ACE/460 Message Board Post: I am going insane. I have been looking for my ggg-grandfather John L. Daniels who lived in and is buried in Wellfleet Mass for YEARS. I have no record of his family at all. He married Hannah Atwood in 1806. I have records of all their children and my line runs through James Munroe Daniels. John died of consumption (TB) in Wellfleet in 1845 and is buried in the Duck Creek Cemetery in Wellfleet. He was active in Wellfleet and held an office for a while. From all I have gathered it appears he was born in Mass somewhere but where I have no idea. Does anyone know my John L. Daniels? Thanks in advance.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: My husband's mother is from Falmouth. Her father, Frank Fernandes was married to Lena Silvia or Silva. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0EB.2ACE/459 Message Board Post: My husband's mother is from Falmouth. Her father, Frank Fernandes was married to Lena Silvia or Silva. Lena's full name was Helena Beatrice Silvia or Silva. Her parents were Joseph Silvia or Silva and Rosa. The only information we have is Lena had 4 sisters, Mary, Theresa Flora, and Lizzie all born between 1889 and 1897, from the 1900 census. In talking to a 91 yr old uncle today, my husband learned the uncle thinks Rosa and or Joseph was from around Waquoit. Frank, his father, wouldn't let his children talk about their ancestry, especially, Rosa's whom the uncle believed was related to the name Betancort - and the Indians around Mashpee. Joseph Silvia or Silva, worked with people who owned horses and was perhaps a horse trainer, and travelled around the country - sometimes for as much as 3 years at a time. The Fernandes family lived in Woods Hole, and Falmouth. The uncle said when he was young he had wanted to find out more about his mother's Indian heritage - but his mother told him it would upset his father - and persuaded him not to. Does anyone know of the names of the churches around Waquoit and Mashpee?

    1. Thomas Kennedy & Polly Ward, Wellfleet
    2. David Kew
    3. Since I've been nominated as a source, I looked into the records I have on hand, and don't see anything to either confirm or refute a marriage of Thomas Kennedy and Mary/Polly Ward. The birth, intentions, marriage and death of Thomas Kennedy are not seen in Wellfleet or Truro VR, nor are children's births. Thomas and Mary/Polly Kennedy are not in the graveyard listings. --- Wellfleet 1:576 marriages (both on same page), by Rev Timothy Davis James Stubbs and Polly Ward both of Wellfleet Nov 30 1824 Thomas Smith and Wid Mary Ward both of Wellfleet Jan 13 1825 Ages are not given. The first would be a very late first marriage for the Polly Ward b 1787, and is presumably the one b 4 Jul 1802 to Benjamin & Bethiah Ward. --- apparent erroneous record: from Rich Family Assoc, South Wellfleet Cemetery transcriptions "Merinda Arey Kennedy, wife of James Kennedy, died Sept 11, 1853, aged 20 yrs, 3 mos." The surname is Kenney, not Kennedy, in Wellfleet records: 2:86, Marinda A Kenney, age 20-3, died of childbed fever, born in Wellfleet to Ezra & Lydia Goodspeed Kenney is an older and more common name for the area, but maybe Kenney mutated to Kennedy. --- Wellfleet marriages 1843-1859, p 59 Ruth S Kennedy married James M Daniels 14 Jul 1843 Wellfleet James Daniels was a single mariner, residence and birthplace not specified. His father was John Daniels, resident of Wellfleet. Ruth S Kennedy was single, birthplace and residence Wellfleet, parent Polly Kennedy. Ruth's Wellfleet death record confirms her parents as Thomas & Polly Kennedy, and James's death record gives his parents as John L Daniels & Hannah Atwood, and birthplace as Wellfleet. From Rich Family Assoc./Wellfleet Hist Soc. transcriptions of Pleasant Hill & Oak Dale Cemeteries, Oak Dale row 46, lots 5 & 6 James M. Daniels 1 Feb 1820-13 Feb 1896 Ruth S. Kennedy, his wife, 7 Jul 1821-11 June 1899 ------------- Wellfleet 1:241 Mrs (Miss?) Hannah Kenedy died 21 Aug 1837 in Wellfleet, age 18 y, ?m Her parents are Thomas and Mary Kennedy in the Mayflower Descendant record of Duck Creek Cemetery, but Thomas and Mercy in the Rich Family Assoc. transcription, and at CapeCodGravestones.com. From RFA: "Sacred to the memory of Miss Hannah W., daughter of Thomas & Mercy Kennedy, who died Aug. 21, 1837, aet. 18 yrs. 5 mos. A lovely youth lies buries here A much lamented friend Call's by her God, her Saviour dear To dwell at his right hand." -------------- David Kew http://capecodhistory.us/
