    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0EB.2ACE/472 Message Board Post: The digitized copy of this book is available free, online: "The History of Cape Cod: The Annals of Barnstable County, Including the District of Mashpee" Originally published in 1860, it's fully searchable and indexed. Go to http://books.google.com Select/click "Full view books" and Type in: history cape cod (Note: If you don't click "full view" as a search requirement, you may get books that show you just "snippets" of the text, not the whole thing.) Click highlighted results to see full book. The entire book can also be saved as your own pdf file. Note: Two "hits" actually come up at google for this book -- one allows you to save the book on your computer, one doesn't. You'll have to try both.

    3. This is a great resource with biographical notes and can be found also by entering Deyo History Barnstable as search words in Google. Google is by far the best genealogy search engine. Adding the word family or history to a surname or a location can bring some very interesting results. Also, the Barnstable Registry of Deeds has expanded its online index back to the 1700s with the exception of those records lost by fire that weren't able to be recovered. The easiest route is to enter Barnstable Registry Deeds into Google, click on free access, then click on Capeview. It's possible to return to the site numerous times and it provides clues to where a family lived and how long an individual lived when a land transaction can be found. >From: "Ray" <[email protected]> >To: <[email protected]>, <[email protected]> >Subject: [Barnstable Co MA] Google History of Barnstable County >Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2006 22:42:32 -0500 > >Google has a scan online of > > > >http://books.google.com/books?q=history+of+barnstable+county ><http://books.google.com/books?q=history+of+barnstable+county&as_brr=0> >&as_brr=0 > > > >The History of Cape Cod: The Annals of Barnstable County > > > >Nearly 800 pages! > >To contact the List Admin privately, or to find other useful information to >help you use the list more effectively please click on the following link: >http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/MA/barnstable.html >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >[email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the >quotes in the subject and the body of the message _________________________________________________________________ Get real-time traffic reports with Windows Live Local Search http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=42.336065~-109.392273&style=r&lvl=4&scene=3712634&trfc=1

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0EB.2ACE/471.1 Message Board Post: I can't answer your question, but I can perhaps fill in a little. The 1880 census has Joseph and his family in Provincetown and his age is given as 46--that would be age at last birthday prior to 1 June 1880. Mary was 20. In the 1920 census Marion E. is with her husband Richard R. Jennings and her brother Charles is in the household. He is listed as age 23 and listed as born in MA. There's a birth record for him, May 14 1896 in New Bedford, Bristol County, MA. Virginia, who married William W. Francis Sep 30 1908 was 23 when she married and was b. St George, as was her father. So again this supports what you say about their movements. Marion married Nov 7, 1908, she was 18 and b. St George. Both were married in Provincetown and the clergyman in each case was William H. Allen. Since both were married by the same clergyman, there might possibly be some record for the parents at whatever church this man was associated with. Jessie was born Oct 30 1883 in Provincetown and there was a Mary b. Nov 25 1884 in Provincetown. There was a death for a Joseph in 1878, but I did not see the record so don't know if it's the first child named Joseph. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful, but perhaps there's something here you can use.

Arthur's father's name was Henry John Ingram. He married a Sarah. There were not a lot of Ingrams around at this time and I think that Henry might have been the first in the region. I think that there is a connection to the Barnstable region because later Arthur and Charlotte moved to the Falmouth area around 1920. I do have a list of a few of there children. 3. Winifred: I descend from Samuel Cobb's half-brother John Cobb. I'm not clear from your message what record proof you are looking for, but her are a few things from my notes. I believe proof that he was the son Henry Cobb's 2nd wife Sarah Hinckley comes from his being mentioned in his grandfather Samuel Hinckley's 8 Oct 1662 will. The births of ten of Henry's children from both wives at Plymouth, Scituate and Barnstable between 1632-60 were recorded in PCR 8:42. He is mentioned in his father's will dated 4 Aprill 1678 and proved 3 June 1699. Some sources for info on the Cobb family: The Great Migration Begins...by Robert Charles Anderson Plymouth Colony, Its History and People 1620-1691 by Eugene Stratton Records of Barnstable MA CD from NEHGS >From the Great Migration: Samuel m. Barnstable 20 Dec 1680 Elizabeth ______ , said to be Elizabeth Taylor dau of Richard Taylor (Otis 1:173). So it seems that Elizabeth's maiden name being Taylor is not proven. >From Otis, Amos, Genealogical Notes of Barnstable Families, being a reprint of the Amos Otis Papers, originally published in the Barnstable Patriot, revised by CF Swift, Volume 1 and 2, Barnstable, MA, The Patriot Press, 1888: Samuel was a farmer and resided in the lower part of the town, and built a house on the six acre lot that was his father's in corner of the land, on the west side of the lane leading to Indian lands. He soon after built a two-story house, a little further west o the same spot where the late farmer Joseph Cobb's house stood, which was taken down about 1805. He m. 20 Dec 1680, Elizabeth Taylor, dau of Richard "the Tailor". He died 27 Dec 1727, aged 73. Children: Sarah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Henry, Samuel, Mehitable, Experience, Jonathan, Eleazer, Lydia. Elizabeth died 4 May, 1721. Know nothing about Elizabeth's parents. Their son, Henry Cobb was born 17 Feb. 1687, married 31 July 1731 to a Jemina Morse, b 9 Apr. 1706 in Sherborn, MA. Second marriage for Henry? On another side of the family I am related to the Morse from Swansea, MA.
