    3. Betty: Alice has stated the case best. I would love to clear up the confusion re Experience and Catherine. I have Walter being born in Leeds, Kent England on May 25, 1618, son of Walter Cook who was born in 1585. Catherine Brenton was born in abt 1628 in Hammersmith, England. Her brother was William Brenton, future Governor of RI. He acquired land on Martha's Vineyard at Gay Head, future land of Jacqueline Kennedy as her summer estate after Jack's death. He later acquired land in Newport which he named after his birthplace, Hammersmith! This, of course, was Hammersmith Farm, birthplace of Jacqueline and the site of her wedding to JFK. Small world. John Jr died in a plane crash within view of the Gay Head home. There is lots on William Brenton on the internet but not much on his ancestors. 3. Bob, I'm surprised that William was Catherine's brother. I thought he was her father, from info. I just found on him. There's a big story on the internet about Brenton State Park, RI, that tells a lot about him, but not his family.Gay Head was also the home of my Native American ancestors, but I didn't know the Kennedys were there, although I knew they were on Martha's Vinyard. Hmmm. 3. Betty: Somewhere I saw a reference to William's will which refered to his sister, Catherine Cook(e). There is a 20 year difference in their age which would make one wonder. Jaquline Kennedy built a beautiful summer estate on Gay Head. Do a web search on Hammersmith Farm.
