Blacksmith: Arrived when he was 30 yrs. old. Was in Boston admitted Hab. in 1655: Rem. to Dover, N.H. where he settled for life. Grant of Land: 1655: South side of Hill St. bet. Central & Park Av. His house was where the present large. two story house stands, a short dis. from Central Ave. Aft. 1655, Town grant of 100 acres: So. side of Garrison Hill (Great Hill)The present old house is known as the "HAM HOUSE" and the Garrison green housesare on that grant. Later: grant: 50 acres, on west side of Central Av. then known as Cart Way. His 2nd house south of the church , Mt Vernon St. When the Indian War began he made it a garrison, sur, by a high stockade which enclosed the yard, in which he had a Blacksmith shop. He resided there several years preceding the massacre of June 1689; His son Stephen lived in the house he built bet. Central & Park St. which he gave him: He was Killed by the Indians while still in bed; , his 3rd wife taken captive with dau.
