I do believe the heat, if not the humidity, is softening my brain...but...do I recall that there was some chat about a Margaret/Marjorie Bassett earlier? I do have this information for anyone who might find it useful: Samuel (5), son of Thomas (4) and Deborah (Read) White, [Joseph (3), Joseph (2) Thomas (1)] WHITE by his second wife Abigail Adams (born at Holliston 4 March 1726/7, daughter of Isaac and Martha (Vose) Adams) had a daughter Marjorie, born at Mendon on 6 October 1754 and died at Uxbridge on 18:8m[August]:1791. Marjorie appeared as "Margaret Basset, late Margaret White" in the estate record of her brother Aremas White- she having married at Smithfield on 2 July 1778 William BASSETT. He was born on 29:10m[December]1747, son of Joseph and Alice (Sprague) Bassett, and died at Richmond New Hampshire on 9 January 1841. In the History of Richmond [NH}, the author William Basset identified William as the son of Joseph and Eunice (Hacket) Basset of Lynn but the "Smithfield Friends Record- Marriages" calls him William, son of Joseph and Ellis Basset of Glocester when he made a second marriage with Ruth Harkness. Thus, he was obviously the son of Joseph Basset of Glocester, Rhode Island who married at Smithfield on 7 January 1747 Alice Sprague of Smithfield. If this is anyone's line, I would be glad to give the documentation for all of the above. As an aside, the identification of the children of Joseph (5) White was provided by the distribution of the estate of his son Artemas White of Pomfret, CT on 8 December 1787- Some of his siblings were not previously recorded - presumably in birth order they were: Adams White, Samuel White, Barak White, Margaret Bassett formerly White, Antipas White, Nathan White, Abigail White and Ahaz White.
