    1. [MA-MENDON] Re: Few DAVIS lines
    2. Joan C. Miller
    3. Good Morning MA-MENDON families, I have a few DAVIS lines. Wondering if one or more might connect to any cousins out there in "Mendy" land? 1. Dorothy DAVIS, bpt.1725,posibly Rutland,MA?;d.27 Jan 1749/50, Holden,MA;mar.Timothy BROWN, b(?); d.10 Apr 1763, Holden, Worcester,MA (pub.vr's) Would anyone know if Dorothy is the daughter of Lt.Simon DAVIS,sr? According to Horace Davis' publication on Dolar Davis,1881, Lt. Simon had a daughter Dolly. I wonder if this is Dorothy. 2. Abigail DAVIS, b. 16 May 1720 (pub.Concord,MA vrs); d.13 Oct 1815, Clinton, Kennebec Cty, ME,(vr); m. 14 May 1741, Concord, MA (vr), Ezekiel BROWN. According to Christine & Donald Brown's publication, "The Browns from Concord to the Kennebec), Abigail DAVIS was the dau. of Eleazer and Eunice (Potter) DAVIS. If so, possibly this would be a double connection to Dolor DAVIS line? 3. Tabitha DAVIS, b.ca.1806, according to 1870 U.S.census, Maine, she was born in Vermont; d. 13 Oct 1890, Augusta,ME, (vr's); m. George DAY. I corresponded with Shirley Davis, Plaistow, NH a few years ago. She sent information found in the IGI records of FHL as follows: Tabitha DAVIS, b. 1 Feb 1806, Rome, Kennebec Co., ME-civil. Parents: James DAVIS and Sally.....; Tabitha mar George DAY, 8 Jan 1829, Mercer, Somerset Co, ME and 12 Feb 1829 in Rome, Kennebec Co., ME, civil. Tabitha and George had a son David J. DAY, b. 1834, Augusta, ME (1850 U.S.Census, ME); mar.#1 Viola Williamson, 06 Feb 1874, Augusta, ME;#2 mar.1889, Mrs. Mary Smith. David's death record: died 12 May 1895, Augusta, ME, place of birth, Wilton, ME; bur. Mt.Pleasant Cem.; son of George DAY and Tabitha DAVIS. 4. Judith DAVIS, bpt 01 Jan 1752, Kingston, NH (NHGR 6:27), possibly born in ?Hawke,NH);d.07 Aug 1801,W.I.Tyler Brigham's, "The Tyler Genealogy"; mar.10 Jun 1773, David TYLER,jr, possibly in Piermont, NH? David & Judith(Davis) Tyler had a son, b.06 Feb 1780, Piermont, NH who became a Methodist minister, removed to preach nr Buffalo, NY and had two sons in the railway business. I wrote to Methodist Archives address few years back. No response to date. According to Kathleen E. Hosier's "Early Families, Kingston, NH, p.54, Judith DAVIS was bpt. in Kingston, NH and is the daughter of Samuel and Dorothy (Hadley) DAVIS who were mar. in Kingston, NH in 1746. In the publication "Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury", pp.731,732,1063, there's information that this DAVIS lines descends to Francis DAVIS. But David Hoyt who published the book seems to suggest not enough strong evidence to prove this line? Wonder if anyone connects with this line since some of the TYLER families were in Mendon at one time? I have lots of Davis correspondence and the above mentioned books. Be happy to share any additional information. Thanks for letting me share the above. Joan Reed Miller ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
