Webster Times, Webster, MA, Thursday, Aug. 16, 1956, Part 4 In Homes of Mourning Daisy M. Rowell Miss Daisy Madlyn Rowell, retired teacher in the Webster schools, died Friday after a long illness. She was born in Webster Jan. 10, 1883, and was the daughter of James H. & Francina (Smith) Rowell. Her father was employed in the Slater Mills for many years. Miss Rowell graduated from Worcester State Normal School and began her teaching career in the town of Oxford, but spent most of her years of teaching in Webster, where she was for a time principal of Filmer School until her transfer to the Junior High department at the time the new building was built at Bartlett High School. She remained there till her retirement early in 1953, after forty-nine years of teaching. Since retirement, Miss Rowell made her home at 61 Schofield avenue, Dudley, until her illness in February. Early in her youth she began the study of vocal music, and her misic continued to be a life-long interest. For many years she was a soloist in the Congregational Church of Webster, of which she was a member. She was active in several organizations of the church, and was a charter member of the Whatsoever Society organized in the church over fifty years ago. After she became ill, she gave her large collection of music to the choir of the United Church of Christ. Besides her church interests, she was a member of several organizations in the community; a charter member and first Worthy Matron of the Nokomis Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Webster Woman's Club, and of the Music Club. Memorial services were held at the Pike and Luther Funeral Home. A special service was conducted on Sunday evening by members of the Nokomis Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. On Monday afternoon services were conducted by Rev. Robert Howland of the United Church of Christ and Rev. Chester Wheeler of Tatnuck Congregational Church, Worcester, a former pastor of the Webster Congregational Church. Committal services conducted by Rev. Chester Wheeler, were held at Hope Cemetery in Worcester. Among her relatives Miss Rowell leaves two nephews, Harold Rowell of Wethersfield, CT, and Fred Rowell of Holyoke; also nieces, Mrs. Margaret Hanson of Wilson (sic), CT., and Mrs. Jordan Edwards of Pascoag, RI; and cousins, Mrs. Earl Spencer whose home is in Florida, and Miss Elizabeth Rowell of W. Springfield. Bearers were Fred Tourtellotte, Clayton R. Stafford, Ralph M. Burnett, Edmund Alger, Arthur H. Klebart and Howard V. McGuinness. Mrs. Joseph Barre Mrs. Rosalie (Deaume) Barre, 79, of 28 Tower st., died Monday afternoon after a long illness. A native of Chambly, Canada, she had lived in Webster for 5 years, and was a member of the St. Anne Sodality of Sacred Heart Church. She leaves her husband, Joseph; three sons, Eugene and Clarence of Webster, and Athanase of Dudley; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Bazinet and Mrs. Claire Stefanik, both of Webster; two brothers, Frederick Domey of Worcester and Leon Domey of Webster; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Castell of Worcester and Mrs. Delia Forgit of Webster; nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held this morning from the Paradis Funeral Home followed by a Solemn high mass in Sacred Heart Church at 9. Paul M. Westphal Paul Max Westphal, 73, of 27-1/2 East Main st., died Friday morning after a long illness. He was retired from Packard Mills, Dudley, where he had worked for 15 years. Mr. Westphal was a Past Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias, a member of Webster Lodge A.F. & A.M. and a past High Priest of Webster Royal Arch Chapter. He is survived by his wife, Alma (Koener) Westphal, and a son, Paul K. Westphal, who is with the diplomatic service in Germany. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Pike and Luther Funeral Home. Rev. John Melin, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, officiated. Bearers were Daniel Clark, Vernon Wilson, Fred Tourtellotte, Arthur Klebart, Herbert Buller and Harold Chaffee. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Bridget Lynch Mrs. Bridget A. (O'Connell) Lynch, 73, of 5 Fifth st., died at her home Thursday following a long illness. She is survived by three sons, Timothy of Washington, DC, Thomas of Rockville, MD, and Francis of Webster; two daughters, Mrs. George Kane and Mrs. Harold O'Connell, both of Webster; two brothers, Bartholomein O'Connell of New York City and Timothy O'Connell of Ireland; two sisters, Mrs. Daniel Cremin of Bridgeport, CT and Mrs. Mary Murphy of Ireland. Also one grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock with a high mass of requiem in St. Louis Church. Rev. Paul Dugan was celebrant. Bearers were John Boland, John Cremins, Paul Houghton, Gerald Guillette, Daniel Dremins and Michael Hannifan. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in charge of Bernard J. Shaw, funeral director. Mrs. Mary Bonczek Mrs. Mary (Poczatek) Bonczek, 73, of New Boston road, Dudley, died Saturday morning in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness. She was born in Poland and resided in Dudley for 59 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society of St. Joseph's Parish, Webster-Dudley Post., No. 184, American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother. Besides her husband, Stanley Bonczek, she is survived by four sons, Victor of N. Grosvenordale, CT, Antohony and Theodore of Dudley and Vincent of Fairhaven; three daughters, Mrs. Theodore Walusiak of Taftville, CT., Mrs. Edward Drescher and Mrs. Peter Laby, both of Dudley. Also 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning with a solemn high mass of requiem at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's Church. Rev. John Aubertin of Three Rivers was celebrant assisted by Rev. Casimir Swiacki as deacon and Rev. Stanley Limpinski as sub-deacon. Delegations attended from the Sacred Heart Society and the Legion Auxiliary. Bearers were Louis Stawasz, Raymond Bousquet, Paul Guillot, Frank Pakulski, Frank Mackowiak and Louis Sroczenski. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in charge of Edward C. Sitkowski, funeral director. Service Pins Presented at Anglo Fabrics Outing One hundred and thirty-one Anglo Fabric Co. employes were presented with service pins and savings bonds at the annual company outing held Saturday at Point Breeze, Webster Lake. Walter G. Seidl and Lewis Wolfer received the two 15 year pins awarded by Leo Honig of New York, Anglo Fabrics President. Mr. Honig was assisted by Miss Madge H. Mack, paymaster at the mill. Another feature of the outing was the presentation of appropriately engraved plaques to employes of Anglo Fabrics and the Dudley Woolen Mills. Ernest Adams accepted the Anglo plaque on behalf of fellow employees while Victor Page accepted the award for workers at the Dudley Woolen Mills. The plaques honoring employes for their assistance following the flood of Aug. 19, 1955, read as follows: "As a token of our appreciation of their services and conscientious efforts in helping us restore the mill after the disastrous flood on Aug. 19, 1955. Your team work, loyalty and pride of craftsmanship at all time are gratefully acknowledged." Taking Course Donald Hector Malboeuf of Thompson rd., Webster, is taking a summer course in automotive service and management at Franklin Technical Institute, 44 Berkeley St., Boston. Seaman Recruit Richard John LeBoeuf, Adjutant to the Recruit Commander of Troops stands at attention during the 256th Graduation Review held Saturday at the United States Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, MD. As Adjutant, he assisted the Recruit Commander of Troops in leading over 2000 other recruits through the colorful ceremony. Seaman LeBoeuf is the son of Mrs. Alice M. LeBoeuf of Dudley, MA.
