James Trask senior is my line James Trask junior this is the way I think it goes James Trask senior married Susannah (unknown); they are both buried in the Elder Ballou cemetery; Two children I know of were Laban and Phoebe because they are in the Ballou book. They intermarried with Aldrich family --------------------------- I assume that James Trask senior was son of Frederick Trask but I do not have the proof.l If you have anything at all, even a little piece of "factotum" this would help me follow the family. Thanks, jean
Hi Listers, Rootsweb does not accept HTML formatting nor attachments; Please send all messages in PLAIN TEXT. You can do this by clicking on format and at the bottom is HTML or Plain Text. Please set it as plain text. I just received a message in HTML format that upset my computer.. I had to delete all my inbox , drafts and clear all my outlook express, then shut down and start again before I could even start a new message. This was not done till I tried all other alternatives. So please all set your MA-MENDON mail to plain text. If anyone sent any message to the list and don't receive a reply please resend it, as we probably all had to delete our inboxes. Any help on the list from any computer Guru's, concerning this? Thanks All, Alice List MOM [email protected] - Message From Massachusetts
Hi Alice, Yes, I realize that was an extraction from the Capron Genealogy -- just didn't want anyone to think it was correct. Joseph Jenkes Jr.'s baptism was found in the Horton Church records, as was his parents marriage. For various reasons, Colket concluded that this was the correct Joseph Jenkes and that another Joseph that was earlier thought to be him was actually a "cousin" of some sort. (Can't remember the exact connection off the top of my head.) Colket's work is very scholarly and convincing. There are several undocumented genealogies that give incorrect info. as to Joseph Jenkes Sr.'s origin and the name of his first wife. For further information, I recommend Colket's well documented work that was published in NEHGR, Vol. 110, "The Jenks Family of England", with follow up article in Vol. 122 -- and Joseph Jenks, Colonial Tool Maker and Inventor by Stephen P. Carlson, rev. ed. 1981. (I purchased my copy at the Saugus Iron Works.) This second one is based on Colket's work, among other sources. Would it be helpful to anyone if I posted the information I extracted from these sources? Sue
Hi Alice If the message did all that to your outlook express it must have had a problem other than it being in HTML as outlook express does just fine with HTML. HTML can carry virus so you may want to check your computer for virus. Morning Again, Joan from York Pa. is my 3rd Cousin connecting through our Pickering Line. So we have many ancestors the same. We met about 13-15 years ago here in Ma. while she was tracing her roots, and have been best Cuz's and friends since. My father married a Canadian French girl. So half my ancestor are Can French.. none settled Mendon Area.. They did settle in Woonsocket, R.I. (known as Little Canada) OK now for our HOLBROOK line: (see below) Can anyone fill in any holes and corrections accepted. :) Most of my Holbrook material come from JC Halbrooks who was a dear friend of mine for near 15 years. Any errors are my typo's and burning the midnight oil. Not JC'S. JC never used , b. d. ABT on a date, and I am a culprit of doing that. JC died Dec. 1999 at age 59. The world of genealogy lost a great researcher on the HOLBROOK lines. Morning Again , Sue R. that was an extraction from th Capron Genealogy that Barb P. asked for., about the Jenks family. It was not the right/wrong facts just a copy of what was written back then. Perhaps you could share with us more of the correct data on this line? Thanks for verifying the facts as incorrect, as I neglected to say, it was just a copy of what was written in this genealogy. Hi Jan, Did a quick glance -- when you said Nutter--- realized I was thinking of Nutting from Mason, NH area where gr-grandf. Charles Theodore REED was born. Alice and I only have a short Holbrook tree--- well guess you do, too. I think that Pownalborough town isn't/wasn't too far from Albion, ME where my Gr-Gr-Grandf.William BAILEY farmed. He was from New Brunswick, ME. In Nobleboro's vr publication, there's a couple of John Youngs . Gives to whom married and couple of death dates. Come to think of it Pownalborough--- is that nr Damariscotta? Have to look at one of my maps. Joan, Should have shown how the Mayflower line goes for anyone who descends from the marriage of Richard Holbrook to Sarah Young: Henry Sampson>Elizabeth (Sampson) Sprout>Mercy (Sprout) Oldham>Anna (Oldham) Young>to Sarah who married Richard Holbrook. Jan
Hi Joan, That particular Young line came up from Plymouth to Truro to Scarboro, Maine and then over to Pownalborough. I do have a lline from Rowland Young though although, as I recall, I daughter out pretty early on it. On the other hand, I still have an unidentified John Young who married into the Holbrook-Nutter family at Pownalborough and heaven only knows where he was hatched. Jan
Yes, yes, this is my line. Be happy to share any and all information. Do you connect with Charles and Mercy( ? ) Aldrich and George and his first wife Mary Merriam Aldrich? My Uncle William Wheelock married Iris Bailey, sister of my mother Donna Sybil Bailey REED. Please let me know if there's any information I can share. Jan, I noticed your Sarah (Young)Holbrook. Does this Sarah connect with Rowland YOUNG from York ME who mar. Susanna Matthews? Their daughter Miriam mar. Nathaniel Chapman. Hi, Have you checked Medfield VRs for Prudence Albee? My line from Benjamin (1) and Hannah (Miller) Albee had a daughter Prudence- way too early to be yours but names are often repeated. Mine were at Medfield for a time- so might be worth checking there. On Josiah White (Thomas4, Joseph3, Joseph2, Thomas1)- I show Mary Green as his second wife and so recorded in the published VRs -married 26 January 1769 at Mendon. I have her born at Upton on 14 November 1746, daughter of William and Hannah (Tyler) Green. I show they were warned out of Uxbridge in March 1778 with their children: Josiah, Asa, Hannah, Alpheus and Nathan "originally from Mendon." Josiah floated around and at one poiint was a resident of Sullivan, Cheshire County, New Hampshire but family tradition is that he died at Uxbridge on 16 February 1808. If you need more on that, let me know and I can give you all the specific cites. Jan
