"Mayflower Families in Progress" are published booklets of 4 or 5 generations on Mayflower families which gives updated research on these families. I haven't ordered any for a few years, but I believe the booklets are still available. Back in 1994 I ordered Francis Cooke, Richard Warren, Myles Standish, Isaac Allerton and Henry samson when I found my lines connected to these families. Maybe someone else can tell us, but I know back then the prices were $5.00, $6.00 and $7.00. Subject to change. Can be ordered from: General Society of Mayflower Descendants 4 Winslow St Plymouth MA 02361 On Wed, 25 Apr 2001 20:02:18 -0700 "Deborah Cook" <[email protected]> writes: > I do not know about the Mayflower Families in Progress publication. > I am > not familiar with it. Hi, Someone asked about the Mayflower publications on John Howland.... Volume I through Desire (2) Howland is available for sale at $59.50 Volume 2 through John (2) Howland is available for sale at $49.50 Both are through five generations and probably can be purchased through Picton Press..at least that is how it is listed in the September 2000 issue of "The Mayflower Quarterly." I also descend from John Howland through his daughter Desire Jan Delorey
Hi All, Several on the Mendon List descend from Walter Cook(e) a Founding Father of Mendon, and we are called Munchies. :) In 1997, as an extension of the large COOK List on Rootweb; I branched off and started a CC group with a few of WC's descendants. Since that time to the present , at present we are 34 : We gather all the info we can and always looking for new descendants of WC. We are known as the Cookie Munchers. MUNCHIES for short. :) If anyone on the list is a WC descendant, the Munchies are the ones to ask. :) OH! and I am Mother Munchie. :) On that note I'll say Night Night, Alice Your List Mom ================ >As for Walter, yes. I do not know about the Mayflower Families in Progress publication. I am not familiar with it. Is it a series of publications on Mayflower families? I don't know if the Otis line removed to NH. I can check and let you know. As for Walter, yes. My father was a direct descendant through the male line of -- Walter, Nicholas, (Deacon) Nicholas, Caleb, Simeon, Simeon (Jr.), Wilton (from Simeon jr.'s 2nd mrg.), Fred (my father), and me. I have been working on my father's line for about 2 years now (member of the munchies since last year) and am putting together a biographical history of this male line only. No extended lines will be included as this will be more of a narrative of their lives than a genealogy; although, I have gathered much genealogical data. Good to hear from you Tom. What is your source for Joseph Bosworth? Checking my Bosworth file, there are Josephs, but not until later. I don't know, wonder if Joseph was a brother or relative to our progenitor, Edward Bosworth, b. abt 1580; d.1634 on board ship enroute to America. Edward married Mary------? who died 1648 in Hingham, MA. Edward and Mary Bosworth had a daughter Alice, b. 1607, England; mar. 05 Sep 1635 to William Flint. Source: "Some Ancestral Line by Raymond M. Tingley; 1935;, p.55. Unless Alice has more to add? Wonder if your Hale line connects with Deborah Coleen Cooks line? Did your Powers line move to New Hampshire? I have a Lucy Powers who was the 1st wife of my Gr-Gr-Grandfather Leonard READ, from Mason, NH, around 1852. She died shortly after giving birth and he remarried to my Gr-Gr-Grandmother Hannah Ford Foster. Alice and I have the same Gr-Great Gramma and Grandpa; namely, Benjamin and Phebe (Scott) Pickering. Let us know if we can be of any help. I'm curious about your Joseph Bosworth. Could he have been the father of our Edward? There is a Joseph Howland, b.ca 1640, son of John and Elizabeth Howland. He married in 1664 Elizabeth Southworth. Source: "Mayflower Increasings," 2nd edition, by Susan E.Roser. What is your source for your Joseph Howland? Isn't there a "Mayflower Families in Progress" published on Desire & John Gorham? Your Otis line. Is that the family that removed to NH? I don't have directs to that line, but think couple of Otis lines married into my Heard and Warren lines. Very interesting family. I see how we connect indirectly with our Foote line. Does your Cook line connect with our Walter? Thanks for sharing your connection with John Howland. Okay Coleen and if you need any help with what I've found on documentation and I'm sure others can and will help, too. -- let me know. Hi All, It's The Pilgrim John Howland Society,Inc. Applications to become a member may be requested from Judith A. Elfring, Registrar; e-mail: [email protected] Last November we attended Thanksgiving Dinner at Plimoth Plantation. What a treat. We really enjoyed our three days in spite of the cold weather. While there we visited the home of Jabez Howland. The hosts and hostesses were so accommodating and ever so friendly. Made us feel at home and shared lots of interesting facts. To make a long story short... my daughter in CA asked about becoming a member. Since I am a member of Society of Mayflower Descendants through Myles Standish on my paternal side, thought it would be nice to join John Howland Society on my maternal side. At that time we thought this was our only Mayflower lineage. We now know through our DAY line we have another Myles Standish line on our maternal side. Little background on the John Howland Society, which I'm sure you know is not the same as becoming a member of the Society of Mayflower descendants, - This Howland Society celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1997. To quote from their literature: " The objective of the society is to perpetuate the memory of our ancestors, John Howland and his wife, Elizabeth Tilly Howland; to preserve and publish manuscripts relating to the John Howland family; to erect and keep in good repair a memorial to their memory in the Pilgrim Church at Plymouth; to assist in pursuing research in England and Holland to discover their ancestors; to retain possession of and keep in good condition the properties known as the "Howland House" at Plymouth, Mass., and the Howland homesites at rocky Nook, Kingston, Mass." I sent my membership application to Judith. I think a nominating committe meets to determine elegibility. Any questions? I have several "Howland Quarterly Newsletters".
