    3. Jean, Please see my comments below. He was respectively designated as "miller," "clothier," "fuller," and wheelwright. A deed dated 1742 described him of Salem, but a year later his residence was given as Mendon. Trask's Mill in Mendon was situated on an island in the Great (now Blackstone) River at what is now Millville. He was living, as an old man, in 1754 when he declined administration on his brother's estate. His property was disposed of by deeds from which we learn the names of his children then living. I do have info on several (not all?) of James BURDEN's children: -- he married 1st, Jerusha Armstrong 27 July 1740 at Walpole, Norfolk Co, MA James, b. 20 sep 1741 (Walpole) Stephen, b. 4 Jan 1744, (Walpole) Jerusha, b. 1 Feb 1745, (Walpole) Thomas, b. 8 Aug 1747, (Uxbridge) Eunice, b. 27 sep 1749 (Uxbridge) Jerusha died 10 Jan 1751 at Uxbridge, age 37. -- he married 2nd, Maribah COMSTOCK, 14 Mar 1752, Smithfield, RI (int. February 29, 1752/1753, Uxbridge, MA) Maribah died 3 March 1753 at Uxbridge "wife of James" -- he married 3rd, 17 May 1753, Mary Sanders, at Needham ("James Bardens of Uxbridge was married to Mary Sanders of Needham." - Needham records) Stephen, b. 18 Mar 1754, Uxbridge (the first Stephen died 31 Jan 1744 at Walpole) Moses, b. 15 Jul 1756, Uxbridge That's it! Now where does Mary fit? I figure she was an unrecorded child born about 1757/58 at likely Uxbridge or Northbridge? > CHILDREN of Fred and Mary Burdin Trask: The only named child I have of Frederic and Mary is my ancestress: Sarah (also Sally) TRASK b. 30 Nov 1789 in Smithfield (or Uxbridge, but the same place no doubt as some of southern Uxbridge was once part of Smithfield) ! According to the Settlement and Story of Oakham, Mass., Sarah was the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Barden) Trask, of Uxbridge. ! Oakham Town Clerk Records gives her birth place as Uxbridge. The 1850 census notes Rhode Island. She died in Oakham, Worc. Co, MA 27 APR 1870 "aged 82 years, 5 months, and 27 days" according to the Oakham Town Records. She married 24 Nov 1813 at Bellingham to Henry HOLBROOK Jr. (an old MENDON family, descendant of Peter) Henry and Sally (Trask) HOLBROOK children: Mary Burdin, b. 16 Apr 1817 at Bellingham James Trask, b. 25 Dec 1820 at Bellingham Sarah Ann, b. 11 June 1823 at Mendon The family moved from Bellingham to Oakham before 1834. James Trask HOLBROOK moved his family to Ionia Co, MI about 1855. > ---Frederick Trask, jr. b: Smithfield, RI > sp. Rachel Unknown (possibly Comstock?) What is your source for these other children? I am very interested in filling out this family with you! According to census records, I've been able to gather the following: 1774 census of RI Colony Trask, Frederick - 1 male over age 16 (by himself) - so when did he marry? about 1775? 1790 census - 1 male over 16; 1 male under 16; 2 females; no slaves. Smithfield, RI I figure Frederic (over 16) a son (under 16) wife, Mary and daughter Sarah. 1800 census - page 469. Enumerator is Aaron Marsh. Uxbridge, MA 00010-41010-00 Fred., 4 females under 10, 1 female over 10 (Sarah), and Mary. Note the "son" from 1790 doesn't appear here. So he'd probably grown up. Is this Frederick Jr. or James or Laban? What is your thought on this? Looks like most of the daughters were born between 1790 and 1800. One of these is probably Phoebe. 1810 census - page 074; 10001 110010. Uxbridge, MA 1 male under 10 and Fred. 1 female under 10, 1 over 10 and Mary. I find it lacking, at times also. and we are always wide open for viruses cause they all seem to go for Outlook Express. I use to use Eudora.. in my old computer.. Anyone know of a freebee e mail program that's better than Outlook?? I like to write off line and read my mail off line.. so I don't want an internet program, like Yahoo . I do have a mailbox there however, but seldom use it.. Anyone with any suggestions?? Alice

    3. Alice and Betty, I think that happens when you try to forward a message and maybe it does have something to do with the "plain text" setting rather than HTML setting in your email editor? Do you use Outlook Express Betty? I know that's happened to me before when I've tried to forward something and I changed my settings to plain text at Alice's request, although I change back to HTML when I write Alice privately. :) Anyway, I've found there's a lot to be desired with Outlook Express though I'm starting to get the hang of it.     2. Alice Palladini;
    3. Morning All, I have Huldah as "Huldah Arnold Taft". The same line as Barb said. However, the last name of Sarah w/o Robert Taft is new to me too! My Taft info comes from a data base collected by the Taft Family Ass. However it is a few years old and probably has been updated and corrected since then. The Taft Family Reunion will be held here in Mendon Sat. June 23rd, at the Mendon Unitarian Parish Hall , Registration is at 11:30; Pot Luck Lunch at 12:30 and speaker at 1:30. I may attend, If I do I will inquire if Sarah's name has been found?? If I don't attend, I know a few list members that do, and I am sure this also will be their main question. :) I am NOT Taft related.. but do belong to the TFA because so many other lines married into the Taft's of Mendon. Yes, Barb, Samuel Taft owned the tavern where GW did sleep. :) Alice [email protected]

    2. Barbara Petty
    3. Mr. Samuelsen, Huldah TAFT's lineage is shown at www.rootsweb.com Global search. Just search Huldah TAFT and the first one listed is a pedigree given by Barbara Teague. Huldah was daughter of Israel and Mercy (ALDRICH) TAFT. David DANIELS was son of Eleazar Daniels and his wife Mary (HOLBROOK). I also had Huldah listed in my database in the remarks entry for Israel. Barbara cited Rick Sullivan, administrator of the Wheelock website: www.WheelockGenealogy.com as one who helped her with the lineage. New England Families by Wm. Richard Cutter, Vol. III:1468 lists Mercy Aldrich's parents as Jacob and Huldah (THAYER) ALDRICH, but apparently they were her grandparents and her parents were Jacob and Margery (HAYWARD) ALDRICH instead. I can't say which is correct since this is not my line, but Barbara's seems to work out better timewise. Apparently Israel TAFT's son Samuel had a tavern during the Revolution that George Washington visited. Washington was very impressed with Taft's daughters who waited on him and Washington sent them each a dress as a token of his appreciation of their kindness. A very interesting item in Barbara Teague's lineage is that she gives the last name for Robert 1 TAFT's wife: SIMPSON! I wonder where she found that? May have to jot her off a note. I've never heard that anyone had identified Sarah ( ) TAFT as yet. She showed her b. in England and they m. in Ireland. Barb Petty [email protected]

    1. Re: [MA-MENDON] RE: thomas THAYER = Abigail VEASEY
    2. Bryants
    3. It's been a while since this original message was posted, but I'm way behind on more than just this list ;-) Corrections to the B. Thayer Genealogy: Correct death date for Thomas THAYER (no. 4 below) is 9 Aug 1692 "Thomas Thayr aged neer seventy Dies upon the 9th day of Agust 1692." !page 659 of published Braintree records (page 37 of the original record). Another occurrence of record on page 694 the year is printed as 1693. This entry is listed among deaths recorded in 1698 when mentioning the death of his widow, Anna. The record on 659 should be the more accurate as it is among all the records of death in that year (1692) The listing on page 694 reads (page 101 of the original record): "Thomas Thayer of this Town died the ninth day of August 1693, aged 69." And the record for Anna's death on page 694: "Anna Thayer wife of Thomas Thayer above sd. deceased Ffebe. 7th, 1697/8 Aged about 73." Thomas Thayer (no. 8 below). The Braintree record reads "old Thomas Thayer dyed 4th mo. 2 1665. The correct interpretation of the date is 2 June 1665, not 2 April. (June is the fourth month back then) As Alice mentioned, there are many errors in the Thayer Genealogy. Regards, Don B. >My info below comes from the B. 3. Hi David and all List Members, David, I do not have any parents for Abigail Aldrich. I do have they were Quakers and they were mar. in Smithfield by the Friends.. Also the Bartlett Cem. mentioned in GAG maybe in Cumberland, R.I. Sorry I could not help more. Was wondering if any Thompson related Cuz on the list might have anything in their Tommie data?? I have 13 Samuel's in my data and not a one married a Thompson.. Alice [email protected] - Message From Massachusetts ----- Original Message ----- From: "W. 3. Need to verify information: Joseph Bartlett (Jacob, Sarah, George) abt 1715 Mendon md Abigail Aldrich of Smithfield, Providence, RI AF says she is daughter of Samuel Aldrich and Mary Thompson I don't show either one in my database. AF says Samuel born abt 1694 of Mendon and Mary Thompson about 1698 of Mendon. actual Abigail Aldrich or mistaken identification? David Samuelsen

    1. [MA-MENDON] some things you don't notice first time....
    2. W. David Samuelsen
    3. Going over again and noticed an impossibility. Joseph (John, Joseph, George) married Martha Heman 17 May 1722 This is not possible when you consider Joseph born around 1711. UNLESS! he was really born around 1699-1702. John - 1699 Jonathan 1701 David 1703 Aaron 1705 Richard 1707 Noah 3 Dec 1709 Joseph 1711 Solomon 1713 It is very clear this particular family has children's birthdates not in true order except Noah. They were reported to have been born in Scituate, Providence, RI Joseph' 2nd marriage according to George Aldrich Genealogy was Hannah Sanders - no date but had following children: Joseph 19 Mar 1744 William Uriah Jesse Hannah Avis Else all listed in the same book. would appreciate hard proof Martha Heman is or is not wife of this Joseph but another Joseph Aldrich. 1. [MA-MENDON] Memorial Day
    2. Alice Palladini;
    3. Hi All, I wrote this last year for other list, and , the sentiment still is the same, so I will send a repeat here to all the Ma- Mendon Listers: Alice =========== Please Fly Your Flag This Weekend Hopefully many of you fly it all year round, also. When I visit the family plot this weekend, I will see 4 new flags waving brightly. Two were WW1 Vets, (my father and uncle) Al a WW11 Vet, and my cousin a Korean Vet. They all fought and served their country bravely and all served over seas. I am proud of them as I am for all who have served their country in war and peace. But this weekend is not only for Veterans, it is also a remembrance of all our families who have gone before us. So please visit a cemetery this weekend, be it your kin or not and remember it was those who lived before us, who have paved the paths for us today. And yes let's remember the living Veterans and their families also, who sacrificed so we can be free and still travel the paths laid, before us. Please drive safe, have fun with your family and friends and be thankful for all your blessings. And remember those that are not here with us, this Memorial weekend. Enjoy, [email protected] - Message From Massachusetts
