    3. Alice & Jean, I see now that I had the marriage, "Cook Daniel, Jr., of Wrentham, Mass., son of Daniel, and Abigail Blackmar, of Glocester; m. by Nathaniel Cook, Jr., Justice, May 25, 1769." from Arnold's Vital Record of Rhode Island, vol. 3, pp. 9 & 13, VR 1-52, Glocester Marriages. So it appears that Abigail Blackmar was Daniel's 2nd wife, and that his first wife was also named Abigail. All of the children's births are listed as those of Daniel Jr. and Abigail. And there is the death of Abigail Cook 29 Jan 1767 in Wrentham. I see that there is a gap in the birth dates of Daniel's children between 1765 and 1770, so this does make sense. But I haven't found anything on Daniel's first wife or anything on Abigail's 2nd marriage to Noah Ballou. 3. Thanks, Jean, for steering me toward Wrentham. I found the births of the children of Daniel Jr. & Abigail Cook recorded there. They were: Abner, b. 4 Mar 1756 Abigail, b. 7 Mar 1759 Thaddeus, b. 15 Jun 1762 Levice, b. 20 Oct 1765 Joanna, b. 27 Jul 1770 Zimri, b. 3 Jun 1772 Daniel, b. 4 Aug 1775 Zekiel, b. 26 Aug 1777 But note that you said Abigail m. 2nd in 1728. Should that be 1778? I didn't find a record of her 2nd marriage in Wrentham. But there was a Noah Ballou who m. Abigail Thurston 12 Apr 1787 in Wrentham. Oops, now I see the death of Abigail Cook, wife of Daniel Jr. 29 Jan 1767. This is confusing. Maybe Daniel Jr. had two wives both named Abigail. I can't find a record of him having married though. Or maybe the death date is wrong. You might want to post this Eleventh Hour message to your lists for anyone who is sitting on any requests. Prices for copies of SS applications will increase from $7 to $27. The exact fee structure can be found at: http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm#_Toc517745431 Hopefully, the LDS will pick these up in the near future & subsidize the project much like they did with the Ellis Island site. >From the Newbee List [email protected] - Message From Massachusetts

    1. [MA-MENDON] Quaker Cemetery, Mendon, Ma.
    2. Alice Palladini;
    3. Hi All, In keeping with Smith /Aldrich Family. Sue as you will see death dates of Margaret and George are from these Quaker records . Data taken from Smithfield records on the Quaker Cemetery in Mendon, Ma. ) George St.) This cemetery has only Field Stones but each family had a row or 1/2 row, Later lots have been sold in this cemetery by the Mendon Cem Ass. that is now in charge of it, however only small markers can be put there.. This list of names was given to Marcus M. Aldrich MHS about 1900: Buried: Moses Aldrich -Quaker Preacher- lies on the west side with the wild cherry tree at headstone. and other graves on either side are suppose to be his nearest kin: ( note" a marker put on by MHS and can still be seen; but needs raising) Smith, Charles -lies at the south end of the Aldrich row of graves, Davenport, Charles-lies in the next row of graves east of the Aldrich row. End grave south, his first wife lies to the North: Davenport , Moses lies next north of Charles and wife and their mother next and probably Father next; Streeters, Three small graves with stones at ends east of Mrs. Davenport's are Streeter children from Streeter's Hill: Staples-the row of graves south of the Aldrich graves and beyond are Staples, George, next his wife, next Abijah and his wife: Kelly-in southeast corner in a row of graves near a walnut tree, and an elm is the gave of Mrs. Kelly who was late mother of George Stacy's first wife. ) It is the north grave in row) MR. Ellis thinks the graves south are Kelly's too: Allen-in the northeast corner, the graves are Nathan Allen. MR. Ellis thinks others in the row are Allens. The wall on the south side is in the center of an old road, formerly called Quaker Lane. The Quaker Meeting House was in the center of the yard or nearly, with sheds at the southeast near road, Meeting House and sheds facing south, Persons buried there-on from the Smithfield Monthly Meeting of Friends, R, Battey: Smith George 1803- Smith Margaret 1801 Smith Lydia - 1756; ALDRICH- William , ( line-Joab, Robert. A large Plague was placed at the entrance in Honor of Rev. Moses Aldrich , and that he preached here. (have to look up exact wording, close enough:) There is a huge Chestnut tree still standing to the right of the entrance; An old saying in this area is: " if your looking for an old burial ground and see a Chestnut tree, a cemetery isn't too far away. :) The chestnuts are as big as small green apples, and a few dropped on my head. Ouch!! :) When I went the first time . I thought they were apples hard as rocks. :) Across the street is the George Cemetery, and a walnut tree or Pig-Nut?? stands near it's entrance. Few of either still remaining in the area. At the end of George St. down the road a piece is the Gaskill Cemetery.. and coming out of George St, you are facing the Old Cemetery that probably where George Aldrich is buried that was land abutting his propery, Probably parts were George's back yard at one time: (George St was NOT named for G.A.. a coincident only: It was named for a very affluent family. Nathan George Family whose large home and farm still stand on the corner.. and still owned by descendants:. Another little Mendon history lesson. :) Night All. 3. Thanks very much, Jan, for the Blackmar-Ford information and especially for providing sources. I'm glad you knew of at least one Mendon connection to partially justify our exchange on the list. I verified the births of William and the other children of William & Jemima (Callum) Ford in Arnold's RI VR for Smithfield. One of the children was named "Ladoc". Do you know if that is a male or female name? I was about to ask you what you knew of their child Richard when I saw the continuation of your message. I'm glad to get this connection too. That means the Fords married into both my mother's side of the family (Blackmar) and my father's (Bullock). However these aren't my direct ancestors. It was Keziah's uncle, Henry Blackmar, who was my 5th great grandfather. And Phebe Bullock who m. Richard Ford was only a 3rd cousin 6 x removed. Alice mentioned having the marriage of Henry & Jean (Arnold) Blackmar from my line. I don't have good documentation for Henry's birth or death, but his marriage to Jean and the births of their children are in the Smithfield VR and Henry was mentioned in the will of his father John. One of their children, Adonijah Blackmar, m. Lillis Cook 22 Apr 1768 in Smithfield. Is that one of your "Cookies", Alice? I don't have a clue about the Blackmar who m. Laura Ann Yoeman. I've never come across her surname. I appreciate the info on Stephen & Mercy (Bullock) Ford and on Cyrus & Mercy (Bullock) Ford. I didn't have those marriages. Jim Bullock Littleton, CO -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 3:07 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MA-MENDON] Re: Bullock-Blackman Keziah BLACKMAN, as you say, married William FORD. He was born at Smithfield, RI on 12 September 1749, son of William and Jemima (Callum) Ford (Smithfield Book of Vital Records, 1:69), and died at Grafton, New Hampshire on 28 December 1833. Keziah died at Grafton, New Hampshire on 5 April 1843 (Grafton County NH Probate #1834). I do not have the ancestry of William (who married Jemima Callum) and that has been a puzzle for about 15 years. (I suspect that he was a son of William and Abigail (Robinson) Ford but cannot prove it yet). Jemima, on the other hand, has been traced back to her Dunbar Scots immigrant ancestor and results published in The American Genealogist , volume 70- which also includes the Mendon Callums....just to show there is a Mendon connection in all of this! On the Ford-Bullock marriages: Stephen Ford, born at Grafton on 26 May 1791, died at Danbury, New Hampshire on 30 October 1844. He married, on 12 September 1811, Mercy/Mary Bullock who was born at Orange, New Hampshire on 27 January 1787, daughter of Sawyer and Susanah (Reed) Bullock (NH VRs on microfilm at NEHisGen). On the "Boston Evening Transcript" query list of 20 October 1909 it states that Mercy married, as his third wife, William Ford, brother of Stephen. No hard evidence to prove that marriage. Cyrus Ford, son of Stephen and Mercy/Mary (Bullock), born at Grafton, NewHampshire on 9 June 1802 married, as his first wife, Jerusha Bullock. She was born at Grafton, New Hampshire on 22 January 1805, daughter of Elisha and Jerusha (Leeds) Bullock and died 21 December 1843, age 38, buried in Razor Hill Cemetery, Grafton, New Hampshire witih her parents. Reasons below From: [email protected] Subject: Hi Alice Dear Alice, I just wanted to let you know that I just visited the site mentioned on the Mendon list by I think his name was David...ancestors of George Aldrich... well I was excited to find the ancestors of my Margaret Aldrich who married (2) George Smith...I guess I didn't realize she was connected to you too! (through a different hubby) Anyway it was fun to surf through this site and I also went to the National Aldrich Assoc. website too. So I guess I never really thought about the Aldrich line I have because I didn't have much info but now I do! So tell me, do you have any Bartlett info? I know it's off subject...but I can't ever find any info and really thought I'd found her there on the website but it was someone else Iguess.. anyway I have Amey Bartlett married to John Arnold and they had Daniel Arnold b. 1776 Cumberland, RI..he married Jerusha Cook in 1798 Bellingham I haven't been able to find anything about Amey or John...I have other Arnold lines but can't seem to connect the two. Any help? I noticed you had some Bartletts also. Thanks, Sue KG ======= Sue happy David S.'s page helped you.(Thanks David for sharing these pages with the Mendon list also) Funny after all these years of a Cook connection we never thought of the Aldrich link also. So here goes my reasoning. :) 1. Yes I do have Margaret Aldrich w/m Edward Thompson and m/2 George Smith. I have their children but nothing on George Smith.. Have the Smith children also. If needed let me know. 2nd.;I have Amey Bartlett and John Arnold in my data but no parents for either of them. Do have their children. Can anyone help with this Bartlett and Arnold lines. (collateral only to me) ; I also have Susanna BARTLETT d/o John w/m Francis INMANN, as an ancestral line. John BARTLETT m. Alice? His father John BARTLETT w/m. Sarah Aldrich.. Reason I get George Aldrich twice as a Progenitor Can anyone help Sue and I?? BARTLETT is an area name and many married into area families. Please. all do not be afraid to post your query or names even if they are R.I. or nearby connected. As I mentioned in my welcome all area towns and parts of Cumberland. No. Smithfield and Woonsocket, R.I. were all Mendon at one time. TIA Alice

    2. Closed off that first posting prematurely.. Stephen FORD who married Mercy/Mary BULLOCK, was born at Grafton, NewHampshire on 26 May 1791, son of Richard (William and Jemima (Callum) and Sarah Kimball Ford. Richard and Sarah (Kimball) Ford also had a son Richard, born 27 January 1789; died at Grafton on 31 January 1877. He married on 28 March 1811 Phebe BULLOCK who was born at Orange, New Hampshire on 9 May 1791, daughter of David and Phoebe (Pierce) Bullock. She died on 30 November 1863, age 72, and is buried in Razor Hill Cemetery, Grafton, New Hampshire. I think that's about the sum total of what I have on the Ford-Bullocks in my files. Jan Delorey
