I tried copying one of my Access databases into Excel (just copy and paste) and it worked. Would that be easier for everyone to read? By Adobe, Alice, do you mean a pdf file? This would work also, but it would look just like if you tried printing it off a printer, in other words it might possibly be on two pages, if there are too many columns to fit on one. Not sure how big a database this is, I tried with one I have and it DID work. You are not only helping me but also the Mendon Historical Society. :) We have a bundle invested in this project, and as Lisa mentioned, be nice to get a few bucks back..But it is also a much needed tool for anyone researching the in Mendon. I'll do my best about getting it into a format more acceptable for the general public. The name taking is just to see if there is a market for this work and IF it's worth continuing trying to edit it and etc. If there is NOT a market for it, we will just stay as we are and place book copies (unedited) in the Mendon Historical Museum, Library and Town Hall.. and chalk it up to a bad idea, and investment. :( However as Committee Chairman of this Mendon Cemetery Project, I feel the project can be salvaged. At what cost to my sanity?? Who knows? :) Thanks All, any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. If only the professional edition has Access that explains why so many of us don't have it in our versions. Thanks, Lisa
Access is only included in the Professional Version of Microsoft Office. I just sent a message to Alice off list concerning her options for the CD. I'm sure she will be able to come up with something that will work for everyone. Lisa llepore@juno.com On Sat, 23 Aug 2003 11:32:28 EDT NLFlude@aol.com writes: > I did what youi said. Alice, Not everyone who has Windows has ACCESS. You only have ACCESS if you have Microsoft Office. Some of us use programs other than Microsoft Office and will not be able to use this CD. That is fine. We will simply have to do without. I would just hate to see anyone buy it and then find they couldn't use it. That's why I wanted to clarify this point. Thanks. Sue God Bless America! I asked for a copy, Alice, and upon checking I do NOT have Access, so I will have to pass. Darn!! Got problem for you. Access is not acceptable to me because I don't use it. Adobe Acrobat PDF is one that is widespread. The reader version is free. Hi All Again, Very Good question Sue R. and the reply also concerns all on the list who may be interested in the Mendon , Ma. Cemetery CD. The data base given to us by the compiler was a DOS program called Alpha-4.. and one had to buy that program to view the CD. (unacceptable of course) I had it converted to Microsoft Access .. after trying MS Excel and etc. All who have Windows have ACCESS on their computer. Go to C:\ program File\Microsoft Office and you will see ACCESS listed there.. The CD can be viewed right from your D-E or whatever your CD drive is or downloaded into your computer. Each entry has a very long set of cells.. MS Excel was not large enough to hold them .. and that is the reason MS ACCESS was used. Just for the record here, most questions asked on the list concern the whole list and not only the individual named in the greeting. Questions on threads , queries, and even chat on various subjects is allowed on the Ma-Mendon List. We try to encourage list participation, by all subscribers, even if it is only a question about the weather.. No flames, no religion or politics, unless genealogy or historical related., are acceptable. Night Night All, Alice List MOM
To some of you - if you have a question for just Alice or some one else please do`nt send it to every one. Thanks !
