    1. Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1800s, Plymouth County, John B. COOMBS/COOMBES
    2. Hi Simone, Just pulled it up at www.familysearch.org. It's still a free site for the 1880. Heritage Quest has the 1880 however not indexed, because you can use the familysearch index then take the series/roll/page and look it up on HQ. Coombes, as listed in the 1880 census? For some reason, I can't access the 1880 census, even at places like familysearch.org, where I thought it used to be free, and the Heritage Quest site doesn't seem to include the 1880 census. I am trying to find any offspring of those children to contact, in case they might have the family genealogy. Can anyone tell me whether there is a free source of the 1880 census I can access, and I'd also like to find out who Mary F. Coombes married. I think it is listed in an index someone mentioned to me, but I'm not sure whether that index gives her husband's name. Maybe it's in the Plymouth, MA, web site, because she lived in Abington. It was exciting! It appears James W. never sent in the correction, and the name on it was spelled as "Coombs," instead of "Coombes," and the birth date is December 22, 1867, which I did not have. The mother is listed as "Elizabeth B." not the "Elizabeth R." that shows up in the census, and I found out the father was a shoemaker at that time, another piece of info I did not have. The Clerk said both John B. and Elizabeth B. are listed as having been born in Boston. I have a friend in South Wales who might be able to help you with your Wales research on the Joneses. There were a couple John's but the ages were a bit off. and there would be no way to know how to connect them..would there? Yes, I thought that Julia could be a married sister, with so many in that household maybe young Elizabeth was with the grandparents. Do you know what the "R" for Elizabeth R. stood for? I'll see what else I can find.. Coombs is listed as "insane"). All the pieces are fitting together... Simone JHL1188@aol.com wrote: Simone, Found who appears to be Elizabeth in the 1870 based on the 1880 information.
