Instead of returning to her Ireland, she stayed with her older sister, Ellen O'Shea and family in MA. She is not with them in the 1900 census. In the first part of the century, she went to cooking school and was taught by Fannie Farmer herself. Candi, The only Honora McCarthy in the 1900 MA Census index is enumerated in Boston on 7 Adams St. She is listed as Head of household living with two brothers James and Charles and a servant ? Fitzgerald. Honora's date of birth is listed as Dec. 1855 in Massachusetts. Both parents born in Ireland. There is no occupation for Honora but for her brother James born Nov. 1859 in Massachusetts, his occupation says Office Supreme Court.
