Lou, Pittsfield is in Berkshire County. The mystery I am trying to solve is the parentage of Lydia Thorne and where they are. On her 1906 marriage certificate (she married my great uncle, Joseph Stopford) she lists her parents as Frank Thorne and Emily (nee) Stead, and that she was born in England (her 2 obituaries list Blackpool and Liverpool). I have the census record for Lydia in 1900 as a boarder in Pittsfield, but her parents are nowhere to be found. And I have not been able to find any record of a Frank Thorne/Emily Stead marriage in the US or England. Based on Lydia's age, and no mention of siblings, I would say her parents would have been born at or before 1861 since Lydia was born in 1882. So what I have in 1900 is a 17 year old girl on her own in Pittsfield, MA. Thanks for the census look up.
