This is what I know: My ggrandfather JOHN ALEXANDER LIND/LYNN/LINN (I've seen it all three ways on census) was born in RI Jan 1844. His father is ALEXANDER LIND, mother is BRIDGET, and he has at least two sisters ALICIA and ISABELLA both born in Ireland in the late 1830's. The earliest that I have JOHN ALEXANDER LIND is on the 1900 census. I do have his discharge papers from the Army dated 17 June 1866. He was discharged from Fort Richardson, VA where he served in company D 4th MA heavy artillery under the alias David Kennedy. This being , I guess, an acceptable way for the well off to discharge their duty. I have the discharge paper and the VA Bureau of Pensions authorization dated 12 Nov 1930. I also know that John Alexander was married first to Harriet, in 1872, and later to Bridget, in 1880. What I am hoping for is to find his parents on the 1850 census. With that I then hope to be able to find some information on ALEXANDER and BRIDGET of which I know nothing beyond their names. Thank you for your help whoever takes this on.
