    1. Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1800s, Plymouth County, John B. COOMBS/COOMBES
    2. Allright Simone! The Mayflower and the Presidency, now those are good relations! You never know about those Joneses..mine married so many Joneses I can hardly keep them straight. I haven't gotten much farther than the 1770's but in Wales, and I have no clue if any of them came over earlier than 1907. Jennifer In a message dated 2/24/2005 11:00:47 PM Eastern Standard Time, hatsandhandfans@yahoo.com writes: Lol, Jennifer! I recently learned of a Jones ancestor in my family tree. I believe it is through Anne Washington, who was an aunt of George Washington, the President. That would be through my mother's father's ancestry. I think Mary Jones was Anne's mother, if I am not mistaken. Simone JHL1188@aol.com wrote: And with names like those, Samuel's children, they shouldn't be hard to find... Wouldn't that be something, the Mayflower connection... I did check out Maine just to see if James may have been up there at all, and there were tons of Coombs, etc....almost as many as my Joneses! LOL All the best, Jennifer In a message dated 2/24/2005 10:30:59 PM Eastern Standard Time, hatsandhandfans@yahoo.com writes: That's great info, Jennifer, and fun to know that some descendants might still be around to meet... It is neat that Samuel was able to use his tack making skills, apparently developed as a young teenager, according to the 1870 census, for his life's work. I received this interesting message from a genealogist. It may help me take this Coombes line farther back: "There are two distinctly different Coombs families. There is the Essex CO, MA and Maine bunch who are descendants of Anthony Coombs. Then there is another family with Plymouth County origins........and usually a Mayflower line." Although it's indexed Samuel H. it appears to be an A. on the image..or it's just a coincidence... What a find! Thanks so much. And it has the correct "Coombes" spelling, too. Good to know he had a life before becoming mentally ill. I figure young James W. went into medicine as a profession as a reaction to his father having been sick. He probably wanted to help people, or he may have seen his father become mentally ill after some sort of medical treatment. Maybe drugs through the father over the edge? I'm still trying to figure out what school James W. attended to become a sanipractor/magnetic healer? We have heard it was in Maine, but we were unable to earth the diploma which gives the name of the school yet. Will keep looking in storage for it. The school might have been in Massachusetts, instead of Maine. Have you ever heard of one having been located in the Abington area?
