Lisa, Thank-you very much for this and for the 1900 census image. Missionary Annie Hamilton is a possiblity. The nurse is unlikely. What does Location 2: boards 5 Eaton mean? Susan - Unfortunately, the actual pages for this directory were not scanned. The data was transcribed. In looking at other directories, there are sometimes 2 addresses listed - 1 for the work, and 1 for the residence. In this case, it looks like the work address is not listed, and Location 2 is the residence, because boards 5 Eaton means she is paying board to live at 5 Eaton, Boston. I went back to the directory to see if I could find out about this address, Here are the listings for Eaton - There are 12 people living here, so it was probably a rooming house or possibly a hotel. The last entry says there is a Hotel there. There is an Eaton Hotel, but it is located at 311 Emerson Street, so I think that is a different place. There is also an Eaton Court in Roxbury, but I think that is a different location. At one time Roxbury was a separate town. I don't know offhand when it became part of Boston. Dear Lisa, Thank-you for going to so much trouble. The list of other roomers and boarders is very interesting but no connection to my Annie. I wonder if the two Longfellows are connected to the poet. The title Missionary for Annie puzzles me and I'll have to check with her descendants to find out what they know. Thanks again.
