Bev, The only information I have on the GARVEY surname is that it was my great grandmother's mother. She married a John Curtin and I believe they were both from Ireland and immigrated to the US. Not sure of the exact immigration date, but their daughter (Jane Curtin) immigrated in 1888 or 1898. I have two conflicting dates. The 1920 census says 1888 and the 1930 says 1898. As for the GORMAN surname. That was the name of my grandfather, who was born in Lowell MA. His father (John T Gorman) was born in Massachusetts and his father was born in Ireland (John Gormley), which I believe he changed to Gorman when he came over. I haven't tied any of them to canada but you never know. I'm doing research here and there and haven't really put a lot of time into it. I do know that my grandmother (Florence Pelletier) definitely has relatives in canada. I haven't even started on her line yet. Hope this gives you enough background on the GARVEY/GORMAN line. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bev Thomson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 19, 2003 12:26 PM Subject: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Essex/1910/CURTIN, John > Hello Maureen: > Am curious as to whether you have any of your GARVEYs > or GORMANs showing in Quebec, Canada ca early 1800-1860s. > I cannot relate to CURTIN surname but do have many > GARVEY/GORMANs. Hi Maureen: Doesn't appear that we have a connection right now but possibly we'll meet again 'down the line' somewhere. You just never know in this genealogy *addiction* that we all seem to have. Many thanks for your response. Bev
