    3. Dear Lou, Thank you for your reply. I have been away for a week and so am a little late in replying - sorry about that. Yes, it could indeed be the correct family. I tried to look them up on Ellis Island but they don't seem to start as early as 1887 (the date of Immigration mentioned by you.) However, the parent's place of birth, dates of birth and date of marriage seem to tie up with the records I have from Scotland. In Scotland they had two children - Jane Kane born 26 July 1873 and Elizabeth Kane born 7th July 1874. I see from the information which you sent that the eldest child still living with the family was Mary, aged 29 years and born in Scotland. This would make her date of birth 1881 - which doesn't quite fit in with the date of Immigration. Anyway, the person I was actually looking for was their daughter Elizabeth (who would have been 36 years old in 1910.) I believe she married a Michael Duffy (presumably in the R.C. Church in Lowell) In his last postcard, Michael wrote 'our home is on the shore of this lake,' This was written in 1909 so presumably, if it was he who married Elizabeth Kane, their home would be near Beverley. Presumably also, they would have married before the 1910 census and sometime before the post card was written - 1908/1909. If you think this idea is viable, could you possibly tell me the email address/telephone no. or address of the registrar of marriages for Lowell? I imagine that if I could obtain a copy of their marriage certificate, it would either confirm or deny the existance of my uncle. Of course, if you are full of other ideas I would love to hear them too! I really can't thank you enough for doing all this research for me. It is extremely good of you and must be very time consuming. However, if you knew how grateful I am you would realise how valuable your service was. Thank you again, sincerely, Myra ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 15, 2003 8:05 PM Subject: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Kane; Salem, M.A.; 1900 & 1910 census > Myra, > > I don't have an index for 1900 but does this look like him in 1910? > > 1910 KANE JAMES 62 M W SCOT MA MIDDLESEX 6-WD LOWELL Series: > T624 Roll: 600 Page: 137 > > James Kane, head, 62, married 37 yrs., b.
