I also thought the $199 was steep, Walt, but when you consider not only the above, but the fact that when I go to my state vitals archive to do research, they charge $9 per hour for research fees and I generally cannot leave there without paying at least $27 for three hours and sometimes it costs almost double that if I remain for the entire 5 1/2 hour period that they are open daily..........and that's just one day out of the year. Having Ancestry always available at home is a real convenience.

Alot of your libraries has Ancestry available at the library for your use free. And there is no cost if your library has it available. Most libraries has Heritage Quest that you can access from your home computer. Saves a lot of money and time too. ----- Original Message ----- From: <MSCATE@aol.com> To: <MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 22, 2005 10:45 AM Subject: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1900 look up > In a message dated 3/22/2005 1:21:57 PM Eastern Standard Time, > WaltIrish@comcast.net writes: > Thanks for your interest / help. $199 subscription is > pretty steep. Walt - I realize you are trying to help yourself with the resources available, but you can only get so far without a subscription. If you find some likely people in the index, just send along what you found, and one of us will get the rest of the information for you. Is the 1910 indexed well enough to find Gabriel KETLEWELL in that, I'd be interested to know what became of him, he'd be 21. I don't think you'd be able to find his sisters, when I looked on the Ancestry index for 1900 (I no longer have a subscription to the US part) they weren't there Florence KETTLEWELL (could be listed as Kettlewell COOK) aged 21 in 1900 Mary Alice (as above) 15 in 1900 Thanks Susan
Walt - I think the information below came from Heritagequest, and you only get to see it when you download the census document. As for ancestry.com - you will get a list of hits after searching for a name, but you have to click on the individual name in order to get to the screen that tells you the roll number, etc. I'm not sure if ancestry lets you get that far without a subscription, but try it and see what happens. Jennifer Thank you so much, this is great. If you have a chance could you do a lookup in 1910 and 1920. I know they had a son George but I don't know his birth date. Thanks again, Peg
Hi Walt, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the way Ancestry works, I use Heritage Quest. I get that index data when I go to download an image. I simply highlight and copy it to the email to the lister can use it for reference. I don't have Ancestry so I can't go in and try to find out where you would get it. I'm sorryI couldn't be of more help. Perhaps an Ancestry user will reply soon...
