Walt - If you live in or near the area you are researching, check your local libraries. They may not have subscriptions to the various databases, but they might have the microfilm for the census for their town, or a larger library might have the entire state. At one time, there was a program where the libraries could borrow the census films from NARA. Ask your librarian about this too. The library may also own some of the CD's with the census index If you live anywhere near Waltham, MA you can visit the National Archives itself. If there is a family history research center near you, they probably have some of the census films there already. Check the usgenweb webpages. They have an ongoing project to index the census, but I don't know if they have gotten to much of the 1930's yet. Finally, get a 2 week free trial to ancestry.com and spend the entire 2 weeks gathering up all the information you can find. You will have to be careful to notify them that you don't wish to continue, and once you have a subscription it's hard to give it up...... But this might be the answer. Here's one place to try it - I'm sure there are tons of others - http://www.searchforancestors.com/freetrials.html You don't need to give us the series, roll & page # when you ask for look ups - if you found some likely subjects in the index just give us the name, and the location information, and we'll be able to find the same ones.
