Dear Gena, I have the census for Fall River for 1850 and 1860. However, I currently am in hot pursuit of some other information on rented tapes from the LDS center here in town. As I am able, I will look for your Lallys. Can you give me the names of anyone you think may be related? Any addresses? This may take me months to find for you so hang in there. Please do let me know if you find the answer to your question so I take your lookup off my list. Good luck in your searches. Carol Phelan
Peg, I have not had any answers to Census lookups from this list either. However, I might be able to get help for the 1900 - would you send the names you were looking for again and I'll see what a friend can do to help with this. Hi List, I appreciate the responses to my question. I was thinking that the 1900 census was readily available. I apologize if I have offended anyone, I just wanted to know if I was spinning my wheels for nothing. I saw queries but never saw any answers. Thanks for the feedback. Regards, Peg Gingras
First of all may I thank you for the offer of this look up....It may indeed be a blessing. I am attempting to locate in Bristol Co, a Hugh (possibly John) Lally who was born in IRL. He married a Bridget O'Hearn, also born in IRL. They are the parents of my husbands great grandfather Anthony H. Lally. So far I have had no luck locating the family after immigration to the US. We believe Anthony to have been born about 1850, We have been searching the south as that is where MA Archives sent us to look for Anthony's birthplace. We had no luck. I have just received Anthony's pension application for his years as a Union sailor during the civil war. In the record he states his place of birth as Fall River. He enlisted from New Bedford in 1861 or 62. It is very possible that Anthony had a brother named either Michael or Patrick. I do know there was a Michael Lally who enlisted in the same unit as Anthony and was killed in VA later in the war. Sorry, I am getting too wordy. My hope is that you may find the family in the Fall river area in 1850. If I don't find them there then will later try the 1840 and 1860 census. I shall also try to obtain MA state census records and check those. I thank you for any information you may find....if you find none, you will still have my utmost gratitude. Perhaps the requests that aren't getting replies are for years or counties that no one has CDROM access to. For example, I requested a 1920 census lookup and I wasn't surprised that I did not get a response, since there aren't any indexed CDROM census products for MA for 1920 that I am aware of. While I suppose that its possible that someone out there has the time and the inclination to do manual lookups in the microfilmed records, I rather doubt it. > -----Original Message----- > From: Jim Zellers [mailto:zelmo@mediaone.net] > Sent: Sunday, March 04, 2001 8:56 PM > To: MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: RE: [MA-CENSUS] Does anyone respond to this list > > > Hi Peg, I agree with you , I have requested census look-ups in Bristol > County a couple times over the last few months and have never received one > response, so I gave up. i HAVE GOTTEN RESPONSES WHEN THERE WERE ANSWERS
Good Evening everyone. Trying to help a friend so I sent in a query on Feb. 26th, 2001 and have not received any communication. I imagine everyone is so busy trying to help other people, it has become a test of our patience. My situation is a little different as I need info. from 1916 thru 1930. Seeking data on the family of Jose/Joseph Alfonso, his wife Guilhermina, 2 daughters born in Portugal and one son and daughter born in New Bedford, Bristol Co., MA (1919 & 1923?). 1) Need to have the 1920 census checked & what about directories? 2) Want to find the obit for Joseph as he died July 22, 1925 some where in MA. 3) Where did the children go to school? 4) What Catholic church could they have gone to? Waiting to hear from Bristol Co. also. Appreciate any help that I can get. Tks. Z

Do you show any last name Darrar circa 1870-1880 in MA. THey would have had a daughter Anna Philomena or Annie Philomena. Thank you.
