Hello ~ I have the following information about my family, and am wondering if someone could check the 1900 census for me to help verify this info, and to possibly determine if there were any other children in the household at that time ~ Thank you so very, very much :) ~Maryann~ Walter E. DeButts b. abt. 1871 Carrie C. Walbourne b. abt 1873 Known children of Walter & Caroline were: Alice b. 1893 Benjamin b. 1894 Florence b. 1898.
Does anyone have access to the 1865 State Census for Middlesex County, MA? If so, I would be extremely grateful for a lookup of the following: Harry/Henry GREAVES, probably residing in Lowell, age approximately 28, possibly living with parents Benjamin and Mary GREAVES. Ann ROGERS, probably residing in Lowell, age approximately 24, possibly residing with parents Dennis and Bridget ROGERS. SARAH or ALICE ROGERS, possibly nearby, probably in their 20s. Thank you so very much! Sue Renkert Fairbanks, Alaska ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1

This was received from a person on another list that I am on, and was written by someone on that list. We were asked to forward it on to other lists. "Ethics:" Hi everyone. This came as a message from the listowner for the Rockingham, New Hamspshire list that I belong to. I thought everyone ought to see what is going on. Mr. Marston has asked that we send this along to the lists we belong to so I am doing so. Please read the whole message to see what is going on. I think at the very least we ought to take it as a warning and a reminder that not all we find is correct information and just use it as a tool to look further. Could I please have HILLMAN (possibly Rolland Merriam HILLMAN & family) looked up for between 1865-1900? Some records indicate HILLMANs in that area....others don't....SO confusing! Thank you.... Annie
Hello Lin ~ During your Waltham escapade, I am wondering if you could lookup information about my grandfather. His name was Benjamin DeButts, and he was born Feb 5, 1894 ~ His SS record states he was born in Boston, and that his father's name was Walter McDonald, and his mother's name was Caroline Walbourne. I would like to obtain info as to whether or not he had any siblings, and if the parents names are shown as DeButts or McDonald ~ The mystery to all this is that our family had always been told that grandpa was born a DeButts, but had been adopted by McDonald's ~ However, I recently found out that he actually left a wife and children (DeButts) in the state of NH, and ran off with a red head (my grandmother), and was never seen or heard from again ~ So, my suspicion now is that he never was adopted, but simply changed his name to hide from the family he left behind ~ Thus, to prove my theory, it would be very helpful to know how his parents are listed on his birth certificate ~ Grandpa died many years before I was born, so I am not able to ask him about this ~ In addition, the family I found is very bitter about what he did, and doesn't wish to speak with me, even though I wasn't even born :( Anyhow, I hope this will be as mysterious to you as it is to me, and that you might find a bit a time to dig up the dirt ~ Thank you so much for your generous offer :) ~Maryann~
Patty, could you please look up Hormidas LeBoeuf on the 1900 census. Also a John LeBoeuf. Thankyou in advance. Jan
Hello All, After the 1900 census what would be the next available census for Ma? I have the information from the 1900 census but I am very much interested in any later ones. Can anyone tell me if there is any and if so can a look up be done for Thomas Lyman Gray in Webster, MA., Worcester county? He would be living with his wife Fannie. He was born in 1848 or 1849 (I have seen both years for his birth.) They both died in 1925. He would most likely be either on Elm Street or High Street. Thanks in Advance. Patti Smith
On Friday I will be going to the NARA branch in Waltham, MA and I expect I will have a bit of extra time. I will probably be able to do a few lookups. Please email me directly to ethelind@earthlink.net I will warn you, I may get a lot of requests, so you need to make your request something that will interest me. What interests me is detail, mystery, and evidence that the requestor did his/her homework, and specificity. Lin

Hello: Hoping I can get atleast one reply, or something to help me open a door to carry on my search. Would someone be able to lookup in the census, or whatever information was available at this time, information for Andrew Ritchie, married to Margaret McNeish in Scotland. They came to Boston, Mass. with their first child, between 1752 and 1755. The rest of the children where born in Boston. He seems to have remained in Boston until September 3, 1777, when he was denounced by the "Committee of Correspondence and Safety" as being "inimical to this State," after which he doubtlessly hastened to join his nephew at Annapolis, with his daughter and young children, but the two or three eldest sons probably remained and took some part in the war on the loyalist side, for in the muster rolls of Loyalists and discharged soldiers as Annapolis taken between 18th and 24th June,1784, the following names appear as "Loyalists settled in Annapolis"; Andrew, Andrew 2nd, Thomas, Matthew, James, and John Ritchie. In some of the papers, it mentions Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. In all of this there is no mention of his wife leaving with him. Did she pass away? What happened to her in Boston? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and trouble. Wendy Ontario, Canada chey@bconnex.net

I too saw the results for the Hickey lookup and am hopeful. I have wanted to locate the immigrant ship logs for some of my family. I have John Joseph Mc Carthy, b. Cork, Ireland and wife Johanna O'Connor Mc Carthy b. Dowlais, Wales, leaving south Wales (maybe Cardiff?) for Boston, Mass in 1888 with baby daughter, Hanora. Brother Timothy Mc Carthy, b. Cork, Ireland and wife Margaret Ryan born in Dowlais, Wales came as well. Johanna's parents, John & Margaret O'Connor along with several siblings and O'Donovans came from Merthr Tydfil, Wales as well, either in 1888 or in 1910---Wales to Boston. How do I go about finding their ship? Thank you for any assistance! Candi
Could someone look into the Mass census infor for my gr-grandfather John Edward (or Edward John) WHALEN, married to Mary Katherine(or just Katherine) DOB Mar 1847. I find him in the 1900 census for New Bedford (Supervisor's Dist 115, Enum. Dist 174, Sheet 23. Bristol Co) but have not had time to check other years. He lists his DOB as Aug. 1841. Entered USA 1866. Census says he was naturalized but no records have been found to support that. Could you check your data base for port of entry? I saw the wonderful help offered for the Patrick HICKEY lookup and was hoping for a similar miracle. Thanks for any help you can off. Carol Phelan, Tucson, AZ
