George and Sarah MOORE had a son, Earle, born in 1896 in Brockton MA, Plymouth County. I can find George on a 1890 Brockton city directory but am wondering if he is listed on the 1900 census. If not, would widow Sarah and her children (I am told there are more than just Earle) be listed in either the 1900 or 1910 census? Judy, do you know when your grandfather was born in Chicago? I live in a Chicago suburb. Within the next few weeks I will either be at my local LDS or a library about 30 minutes from my house - both have microfilmed Chicago directories. If you can wait a few weeks, I can look him up if you have an idea of when he lived in Chicago. Otherwise, you can order Chicago directories from an LDS Family History center near you. In that case I can send you the film numbers - let me know if you are interested. Drectories are how I found some of my more elusive ancestors. Hi Susan... How nice of you to offer to look up things for me! I'am so impressed with how nice everyone on these lists are! My grandfather, Charles Sumner Simington, was actually born in Monmouth, Illinois in 1878. My brick wall is his father, Edwin Clarence Simington born about 1853. I tried to get a birth certificate for him from Massachusettes but they had "no record". Family story is that was where he was born, but I'm thinking maybe he was really born in Illinois. He married Catherine Frazell in 1877 in Illinois. I have been able to get quite a bit of information on her (the Frazell's) but nothing on him! I'm trying to find out who his (Edwin's) parents are and where they are from, etc. I have him living in Monmouth, Illinois when my grandfather was born, but I lose him before and after that. Anything you can find out would be most appreciated!!! Could SKS see if they can find Thomas/Willliam/Ellen Gray in the 1860 census for Charlton, Ma. Worcester County. I just found out that my ancestor, Thomas Gray enlisted in the civil war in July of 1864 and place of residence was Charlton. I am hoping to find him with his parents, William and Ellen. I have yet to ever find them in census', directories or VR's. My brickwall. I don't know what other records I would check in Charlton because he was living in Oxford after the war. Thanks so much in advance! Patti
