Hi Folks, I just put some new Census Transcriptions into the USGenWeb Massachusetts Archives for Berkshire County - As the Mass State Archives File Manager I would like to appeal to you to send me more files to be added to the GenWeb Archives. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ma/mafiles.htm If you have not already searched the archives you will find a wealth of information there. It is up to us to improve this resource for all researchers. Search: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm If anyone would like to help manage this project we can always use more archives county coordinators. Just let me know and I can get you into the system. A little html and ftp experience with web sites is helpful. Thanks, Ray Sears LRSears@CapeCod.net

For whom are you looking? > To Riwilak@aol.com: Thank you for your reply. I am looking for Frank Douglas(s), whom I can find no trace of prior to a Worcester, MA city directory in 1889. He was supposedly born in VT, I believe January 1857, and married Magdalena A. Gardner (supposedly born in Boston 1869). They settled in, raised their family, and died in Worcester. As they didn't start their family until 1890, I have not been able to locate either of them in the 1880 census. Any chance you would check both MA and VT censuses for me? Magdalena's parents' names are believed to be James H. and Ellen (or Helen) Gardner. According to Magdalena's death certificate, both parents were born in Boston. Thank you so much for your assistance & kindness. Jennifer

She (Ellen) Nellie DRAPER was married in 1869 in Sturbridge and her place of residence was listed as such. She was born in Buffalo, NY and I have reason to believe Asa and Mary Ann were born in NY also. Nellie was born about 1855 so her parents would have been approx 20 years prior. I have been stuck on this for over a year. > > Thanks, > > April > > ==== MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== > To transcribe a census please volunteer at > http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/census/map.htm > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 > Source for Family History Online. 1. Re: [MA-CENSUS] 1880 Census on CD?
    2. This is the closest I come to the age and occupation cited in your note. This from the FHL CD for 1880 census. They do not provide all info that appears in the census pages (like date to U.S. etc.) You can probably get that info from a Family History Library near you by telling them the FHL Film # and page # shown below. Good luck in your search. 1880 Census Place: North Cambridge, Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts Source: FHL Film 1254544 National Archives Film T9-0544 Page 300B Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Jeremiah MCCARTHY Self M M W 60 IRELAND Occ: Tailor Fa: IRELAND Mo: IRELAND Mary MCCARTHY Wife F M W 54 IRELAND Occ: Keeping House Fa: IRELAND Mo: IRELAND Timothy MCCARTHY Son M S W 25 MA Occ: Organ Tuner Fa: IRELAND Mo: IRELAND Patrick MCCARTHY Son M S W 21 MA Occ: Works In Tailor Shop Fa: IRELAND Mo: IRELAND Josephine MCCARTHY Dau F S W 12 MA Occ: At School Fa: IRELAND Mo: IRELAND ---------------------------------------------------------------
