Marilyn: There are several George De Witt. Do you have any approx. ages or place of birth? Did he and MAggie have any children earlier? Or after (for the 1900 census) Lucy
Sorry, I just re-read this and want to correct the facts. Jane DeWitt and Joseph Cormier were m. in 1898. Joseph was b. in Canada around 1864. Jane perhaps was b. in MA around 1879. I am wondering if the DeWitt (George and Maggie/Margaret) family shows up in any MA census beginning in 1870, 1880 or 1890. Thanks, and sorry for the confusion.... Dolores: Found Thomas in 1850: 1850, Rhode Island, Providence, Smithfield Thomas Eastwood, 26, M, male spinner, b. England Not found in 1840. So - it would be safe to say that Thomas came to the US between 1840 & 1850, met Harriet here (?) married, moved to Mass. by 1855 when James was born. Henry seems to be his brother who has a son Charles, b. 1848/49 in Rhode Island....guessing that the two brother probably came before 1848 to probably Mass. and then onto the mills in Rhode Island. And finally settling in MAss. Lucy

Hi, I am looking for a family with a daughter, Jane Maud (Jennie) DeWitt, b. <1879> in MA. I believe her parents are George DeWitt and Maggie Crocker. George is said to have been b. in MA and Maggie in England. I can't find them in the 1880 online census and wonder if they show up in MA in 1890. Jane m. Joseph Oliver Cormier b. Canada in <1898>. Thanks for any information about this DeWitt family. Regards, Marilyn in NH

Lou, Thanks so much for sending me this information. I really don't have much information to go on. I only know that he had three kids (John, James & Jane (Jennie) and his wife was Hannah Curtin and he was living in Lawrence (I believe). I have a feeling that maybe the John J Curtin listed in Lawrence could be the one. But I will definitely try and see if I can get more information and try and resend another look-up.
