Gail: There is no Alexander Thompson listed inMartha's Vineyard, Dukes County. There is one age 65 in Hampshire County which is no where near Dukes. Did the family or his children lives elsewhere that he may have moved in with them? Lucy Whoever said "Seek and ye shall find" was not a genealogist.

Requesting a lookup in the 1850 Boston census for: James (H.) Gardner, b. abt. 1826 in Ireland, boilermaker Mary Elizabeth (sometimes referred to as either just Mary or just Elizabeth) - daughter, b. abt. 1848 in RI Ellen (Sisk or Fisk)/Gardner? - may be his wife. B. abt. 1839 in Ireland. Ellen listed as Ellen Sisk/Fisk in 1860 Boston census with James. Note: I am doubtful that Ellen is Mary Elizabeth's natural mother, given that there is only 9-10 years age difference between them. Therefore, another mother figure might be listed for Mary Elizabeth in this census. Additionally, if anyone has access to all MA census data, they may not be in Suffolk/Boston, but in another part of MA at this time & a check of other towns would be greatly appreciated. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you - Jennifer
Pat: Unfortunately, I cannot search online after 1930....for info that is later, you need Archive searches... The Social Security Index begins in the 60's, so if any of your family died after 1964, I can look those records up. Using the SS # that is listed on the record, you could write for death certificates or for the original SS Application which list the applicant's parent's names, addresses, occupation (sometimes) and living place. I was hoping someone could look up Jane (Jennie) Curtin in the 1900 census. She should be living in Lawrence Massachusetts. Her parents names are John Curtin and Hannah Curtin nee Garvey. She was born approximately between 1883-1886, making her approx. 16 years of age. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Searching for any info on Rebecca (b 1826), John (b abt 1851), and Mary (Luedke) Hogenkamp (b 1797). These three folks came from Germany. Mary was the mother of Rebecca and John. There may have been other siblings, etc. also listed with the Hogenkamp name. Sometime in 1860 they all (except for Rebecca) supposedly migrated to Ohio. Any information available for the Hogenkamps during their short visit to Massachusetts wll be much appreciated. Many thanks - Barbara Barton

Dear Lou, Yes, it's me again! Just to say that I think I made a mistake about Mary, aged 29 in 1910. She was born in Scotland - which was, of course before 1887! Sorry about the mistake and I thought I had been so careful this time! Myra -----
Dear Lou, Thank you for your reply. I have been away for a week and so am a little late in replying - sorry about that. Yes, it could indeed be the correct family. I tried to look them up on Ellis Island but they don't seem to start as early as 1887 (the date of Immigration mentioned by you.) However, the parent's place of birth, dates of birth and date of marriage seem to tie up with the records I have from Scotland. In Scotland they had two children - Jane Kane born 26 July 1873 and Elizabeth Kane born 7th July 1874. I see from the information which you sent that the eldest child still living with the family was Mary, aged 29 years and born in Scotland. This would make her date of birth 1881 - which doesn't quite fit in with the date of Immigration. Anyway, the person I was actually looking for was their daughter Elizabeth (who would have been 36 years old in 1910.) I believe she married a Michael Duffy (presumably in the R.C. Church in Lowell) In his last postcard, Michael wrote 'our home is on the shore of this lake,' This was written in 1909 so presumably, if it was he who married Elizabeth Kane, their home would be near Beverley. Presumably also, they would have married before the 1910 census and sometime before the post card was written - 1908/1909. If you think this idea is viable, could you possibly tell me the email address/telephone no. or address of the registrar of marriages for Lowell? I imagine that if I could obtain a copy of their marriage certificate, it would either confirm or deny the existance of my uncle. Of course, if you are full of other ideas I would love to hear them too! I really can't thank you enough for doing all this research for me. It is extremely good of you and must be very time consuming. However, if you knew how grateful I am you would realise how valuable your service was. Thank you again, sincerely, Myra ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 15, 2003 8:05 PM Subject: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Kane; Salem, M.A.; 1900 & 1910 census > Myra, > > I don't have an index for 1900 but does this look like him in 1910? > > 1910 KANE JAMES 62 M W SCOT MA MIDDLESEX 6-WD LOWELL Series: > T624 Roll: 600 Page: 137 > > James Kane, head, 62, married 37 yrs., b. Eileen thank you for your help i had written to Chicopee Falls and got a lot of information from the town records and they stated the Edward's parents were Michael and Joanna Sullivan so I am trying to find out more. i am pretty sure they are all buried in St. patrrick's church in Chicopee Falls but when i write there i have not had much luck in getting them to look up the graves they even stated I was asking too much. pat > Sorry Pat I don't have the 1860 census. Helen, I'm a little confused by your request. This is the Massachusetts census lookup list---are you looking for someone in Maine? Or is that a typo in your subject line? If you want this lookup in MA, can you tell me what county Dee Isle is located in? Also, do you have some ages and place of birth for these two Williams? There are about 10 of them listed in each state and if you want a lookup in Maine, you need to post your request to the ME-CENSUS-LOOKUP list.
