    3. I would very much appreciate a lookup for Philip Aspinwall in Springfield Twp in 1850. I am hoping he has a son named Marcus Everett Aspinwall. I found Marcus in 1860 in the same town as Philip. In 1860, Marcus was 22 and born in MA; Philips was 70 and born in ME but I know Philip was in Hampden County as early as 1820. Thank you. It appears that Ellen married more than once and may have used either surname. She was most likely living in Hampden county. Ellen would have been about 33 at the time of the census and she may have had daughters Jennie and Catherine with her. jennie would be about 5 and Catherine about 3 at the time of the census. Thanks in advance for any help. Ed O'Connor Hudson,MA ==== MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== In the U.S., a census has been taken every 10 years from 1790 through 2000. All censuses taken after 1930 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories - 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1930 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. 3. Margie, I did a search at Heritage Quest and am sending this to the list in case it may help someone else as well. How do you like the following? I'm sure this is the right man, but in the search index the transcriber interpreted his name as ROUDE. In the census sheet, it is obviously ROCHE.
