    1. [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1930/Henry Hughes/Dorchester
    2. Margie
    3. Hi Lou, Thank you for checking on this for me! Here's what I do know about Henry Hughes. --Henry HUGHES was born in Ireland. --He married Maggie McCARRON in Worcester on Oct. 3, 1883. --In 1921, Henry lived in Boston. (source: his brother's obituary) --In 1931, Henry lived in Dorchester. (source: his sister's obituary) --I don't know his age, but I'm estimating he would be in his 60's in 1930. Thank you! 1. Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] THORNE - Pittsfield, MA
    2. Charles
    3. Lou, Pittsfield is in Berkshire County. The mystery I am trying to solve is the parentage of Lydia Thorne and where they are. On her 1906 marriage certificate (she married my great uncle, Joseph Stopford) she lists her parents as Frank Thorne and Emily (nee) Stead, and that she was born in England (her 2 obituaries list Blackpool and Liverpool). I have the census record for Lydia in 1900 as a boarder in Pittsfield, but her parents are nowhere to be found. And I have not been able to find any record of a Frank Thorne/Emily Stead marriage in the US or England. Based on Lydia's age, and no mention of siblings, I would say her parents would have been born at or before 1861 since Lydia was born in 1882. So what I have in 1900 is a 17 year old girl on her own in Pittsfield, MA. Thanks for the census look up. I will check them out but the ages and birth places don't seem to fit. best regards, Charles ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, November 07, 2003 6:19 PM Subject: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] THORNE - Pittsfield, MA > Charles, > > The names are indexed according to age, birthplace and county of > residence. Interesting tidbit - my dad's brother, John (on whom I got such great info yesterday!) lived on Appleton Terrace (we were on Appleton Ave) and both were Secretaries of Chambers of Commerce! Also, noted that John's father was supposedly from the "Irish Free State", but that wasn't true. He was born in Arlington. Sure show's that the Census is a great finding tool, but not gospel! 1. [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Lookup in 1900 and/or 1920 census for Daniel Ahern
    2. Hi, I posted a lookup request for a Daniel Ahern and family a couple of days ago but got no responses so am posting again. Online 1880 census shows the family living in Holyoke Mass, I have been told they were still there in later years (hopefully 1900 or 1920), Daniel Ahern may have died before 1920 but his children were still alive. 1880 census data is below: Daniel Ahern, age 40, born Ireland, parents birthplace Ireland. Mary Ahern, wife, age 41, born Ireland, parents birthplace Ireland. Mary Ahern, daughter, age 20, born Ireland, parents birthplace Ireland. John Ahern, son, age 18, born Ireland Georg Ahern, age 16, born England James Ahern, age 9, born New Brunswk (Canada) Elizabeth Ahern, age 7, born New Brunswk Coleman Ahern, age 5, born New Brunswk. I'm posting the 1880 census details in hope that they will be of help in locating the family in later censuses. There is a strong possibility that Danial Ahern is the same Danial born in Cobh Co. Cork 1835 who was a brother of my GGrandfather William Ahern. Colman Ahern, Berkeley.
