    3. Hi Charles Thank you for your quick response on the above request. Bernard was my grandfather, Anna my mother and all the dates are correct. I lived with my grandparents for a while when I was growing up. Bernard's parents were James and Margaret FITZGERALD Keefe. James was born on 8 June 1817 in Harbour Grace Newfoundland. He (M) Margaret Fitzgerald on 17 January 1849 in Mosquito ( a section of Harbour Grace), I have a copy of the newspaper clipping. I do not have a date of birth on Margaret or who her parents were. I thought if they had been in the census I might find at least her age and date of birth. They had six children, Bernard,Maria Agnes, Charles Francis,Agnes,Edward and Anastasia but all their records were destroyed in a church fire. My wife and I went to NFLD several years ago to research Margaret but no luck. After the (M) date there is no sign of them in NFLD so I am sure they went to Boston. Again thank you very much the info you sent me and if you ever come across the name of Margaret Keefe please let me know. Have a great day Joe

    3. 1820 Salem, MA There is a listing for Jacob Winchester in 1820 with a string of numbers after the name but no legend above to determine what these numbers mean and no age given. On another page there is a legend which indicates it is Free White Males and Free White Females. On that basis there are 7 males and 3 females. Only the head of household is listed by name. nothing in 1830, 1840, 1850 1860 Salem, MA no relationships or other details given Jacob Winchester age 58 Stair Builder Sally age 51 (wife?) Eunice age 18 Lucy age 15 Nancy Woodbury age 58 There is an interesting double entry for 1870 for Jacob and Sarah Winchester. In one listing Jacob is 70, Sarah 62; in the other he is 68 and she is 63. On both the occupation as Gallow Chandler(?) is the same. Both entries are for Salem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kelles & Jacque" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, November 14, 2003 11:04 AM Subject: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Essex Co, 1850-1860-Winchester > > > I am looking for Jacob Winchester b.1802 MA d. 1871 MA wife Elizabeth (Lang) Winchester b abt 1808 d.? > Children as I know, all born in Salem. > Maria b. 1833 > Eunice b. 1841 > Lucy b. 1844 > > Thank you for your help > Jacquelyn Jones > > > ==== MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== > In the U.S., a census has been taken every 10 years from 1790 through 2000. All censuses taken after 1930 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories - 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1930 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. > CENSUS LOOKUPS HOME PAGE http://www.rootsweb.com/~censlook/ > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >

Living with her are daughter Lizzie M Foster age 44 born in MA, and son-in-law Archibald H Foster, age 39, born in Canada - English, can't make our the occupation. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 2003 9:25 PM Subject: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Suffolk County/1910/Howe > Hi, Charles- > In 1910, Ellen would have been 71 or 72 years old. > Hope this helps- > Thanks for the work- > Ann > . > > > ==== MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== > NOTICE: The posting of any emails other than a lookup request or reply to a lookup request are NOT ALLOWED and may result in immediate removal from this list > CENSUS LOOKUPS HOME PAGE http://www.rootsweb.com/~censlook/ > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >

    3. The only Ellen Howe in Boston on the 1910 census is a 17 year old step daughter (dressmaker) of John Ford (horseman at a stable age 42) who was born in North Carolina. She was born in MA. The address is 60 Northfield Street. There are 8 other Ellen's in MA on the 1910 census. If you have an age I can narrow down the field. John's wife's name is Susie M, age 36. There is another step daughter, Josephine Howe age 12.
