Hi Syd, This is a Census Look-up List, your post is entirely in the Subject Line: Re: [MA-CENSUS-LOOKUP]/I am looking for any information about JAMES SPENCE born about 1824 at Bramley Yorkshire England. He arrived in Boston with his wife Lydia on the 10-8-1883 on the ship Batavia. If there is any other person researching this couple or can help with any/ I do not know if there was more to your request after "help with any" I am presuming you are looking for information if James Spence, b. abt 1824, Yorkshire Co., England, wife Lydia, having arrived 8 Oct 1883, Boston, aboard Batavia, my presuming you already have this passenger manifest/index ? As for someone on this list researching James Spence is unknown to myself. I can look for the 1900 census of James & Lydia, if this would help ? Doc 6:00am/Saturday/18Nov2017 Regards, D.R. 3. Dear Shannah, Welcome to the List This list previously use to be for Census Look-ups, i.e. Year / County / Surname unless the list guideline have changed since the merging Ancestry & Rootsweb, it would be nice of you to state what Census Year to find Ellen Twiss, b. ???, Co. Kerry, Ireland, d. 1862, Hampden Co., MA I will look to see what I can find, presuming she was in America in 1850 & 1860. US Federal Census probably will only reflect born in Ireland, Irish, not specifics of where in Ireland. My Irish are from Co. Limerick Doc 1:36pm/mst/Tuesday/2Aug2016 Regards, D.R. 3. HI doc It has been some time since I went on to the mailing list and ask for assistance. Not sure if you can help me out with this one as I have tried to contact the relevant uni but with no success. I am trying to get a copy of a photo and verification that it is my great great grandfather Dr James Morton - The photo is part of the Labodie collection of the University of Michigan - it is a studio photo from Boston Photo Co and is attached to the Australian Medical Pioneers records - unsure where they obtained it from. I would love to find out if it is him and if they have any details of his time with the university. Have had some success with the English qualifications but still more work to be done there. 3. Hi Jennifer, A big thank you for your help.  I was not sure where the problem was...the sailing times or possibly a late census.  Now knowing they arrived in Boston 9 days later, I googled how long it took to cross the ocean.  In 1900, the White Star line took 7 to 8 days to cross.  Re-reading the passenger list, I found that they didn`t state 21 days to cross but rather it says ``I hereby Certify that the Provisions actually laden on board this Ship are sufficient, according to the requirements of the Merchant Shipping Acts, for 1174 Statute Adults, for a voyage of 21 days.`` Once again thank you for your help in solving my problem.
