    3. I visited the Old Catholic Cemetery on Rindge Ave., Cambridge in the late 1980s--unfortunately, although the cemetery was open there was no staff there. I had the location of the graves of my ancestors but was unable to locate them without assistance. Has anyone ever tried to get the maintenance crew or anyone elseconnected with the cemetery to write down the inscriptions on the markers, if they did have markers. Naturally I would pay for that service, thanks, Charles

    3. Hi Charles, You might want to call or write the Cemetery Office in Cambridge and ask who holds the records for that cemetery. Because of my research on my friend, Bob's family tree, who was a life-long resident of Cambridge (until he moved here), I know about the Cambridge Cemetery which is a separate cemetery across the street from the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. I also found out that is where the Cemetery Office is in Cambridge. Cemetery Office Dept. of Public Works City of Cambridge 76 Coolidge Avenue Cambridge, MA 0213_ 617-349-4890 (I'm sorry I don't know the zip code; should be 02138 or 02139.) Some people confuse the two cemeteries, the one off of Coolidge Ave., which is the official "Cambridge Cemetery," which borders on Watertown, and the one you mentioned, "the old Catholic Cemetery" on Rindge Ave. Hope this helps a little. By the way, I think these cemeteries have been discussed on the MAMiddle List during 2004. 3. Betty: The cemetery I'm looking for is the one on Rindge Ave. I checked the Archdiocese of Boston and I couldn't find it. My grandmother's family is buried at Mt. Auburn. I went there and passed graves of notable people. Bottom line--there are about 18 people buried in our family plot there and no markers. thanks, Charles ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty" <bbffrrpp@comcast.net> To: <MA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 12, 2004 11:22 AM Subject: [MA-CEM] Re: Old Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, MA > Hi Charles, > > You might want to call or write the Cemetery Office in Cambridge and ask > who > holds the records for that cemetery. > > Because of my research on my friend, Bob's family tree, who was a > life-long > resident of Cambridge (until he moved here), I know about the Cambridge > Cemetery which is a separate cemetery across the street from the Mt. > Auburn > Cemetery in Cambridge.
