    3. My mother and I are planning on being in MA in July for genealogy purposes. We are particularly interested in the old cemeteries. We will be in the following towns: Billerica, Boston (1699), Bradford, Charlestown, Chelmsford, Essex, Hollis, Ipswich, Lynn, Malkden, Medford (1721), Mendon, Newbury, Newton, Rowley, Rumney MArsh, Salem, (Spofford's Hill) Gerorgetown, Swansea, Townsend, and Woburn. The time period of the burials we are looking for is 1611-1772. If you know which cemetery (ies) in these towns we should look in I would greatly appreciate this information. It would save us a lot of time just driving from one cemetery to another only to find they are too new. I hope someone can send us a name or two. Thanks for all your help, Loretta Smith

    3. Loretta, There may not be anything listed for Bradford, but it actually has 2 cemeteries. One is the Old Burying Ground which goes back to about 1650. One of my Town Coordinators recently went there. She said the oldest stone she could find was 1700. You might want to visit http://gravematter.com/cem-ma-bradford.asp before going. Jenn Marcelais is doing an absolutely outstanding job of photographing cemeteries and putting them on the web. There is a 2nd cemetery, although it is listed as being in Groveland. That is the Riverview Cemetery. It dates to about 1728. Groveland was the Bradford East Parish until it became the Groveland Congregational Church in June of 1727. This cemetery is still in use today. I have misplaced the exact location, but there is a another small cemetery in Groveland. It is a small pox cemetery with 7 people buried there. You can see a couple pictures at these URLs. http://john-slaughter.rootsweb.com/AcrossStreet.jpg http://john-slaughter.rootsweb.com/Marker.jpg. There are no individual markers. 3. Thanks so very much for all the information. We will most certainly look in Groveland also (I do think we have some rellies from there, but had no dates or other information on them). Your help is really going to help us as we drift through all these many little cemeteries. Thanks again Loretta Genealogists don't die....they just lose their census.
