Has anyone had any luck in finding gravestone inscriptions from those buried at the Old Catholic Cemetery on Rindge Ave., Cambridge? thanks, Charles
Charles, Check out Rootsweb Tombstone Transcription Project for Middlesex County. Someone is in the process of transcribing the Old Burying Ground in Cambridge...I don't know if that is the same one, but you could contact him via his email. http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/massachusetts/middlesex.html If it the cemetery I am thinking of it is quite small and I drive by it a couple of times a week. Is there a particular person you are looking for? Hi Charles , Hope this helps in answer to your recent email. MA - Middlesex - Cambridge Cemeteries - OldCatholic Cemetery* The No. Camb. Old Cath. Cemetery is located on Rindge Ave. I believe the cemetery is still open but with no office / staff or maintenance crews usually around. There is a Camb. Cemetery Office as follows : Dept. Public Works 76 Coolidge Ave. Camb. MA 02138 or 9 (617) 349-4890 However, records are at Holy Cross Cem*. Malden, MA : http://www.ccemetery.org/About/locations.html . In 2002 the cost was $10, required a written letter and took a few months. Some people confuse the Old Cath. Cem. with the Camb. Cem on Coolidge Ave. (not Old Cath.) where the above office is located and borders Watertown, MA. The Camb. Cem. is across the street from Mt. Auburn Cem. in Cambridge. As I recall, Camb. Cem. entrance is from Cottage St., Watertown which is entered just over the Camb. / Watertown line. Cottage St. has nothing to do with Old Cath. Cem. Happy ancestors searching, best of luck.
