Hi Carlton: I am not sure how he came to be called Leo Vance Carroll. At this point, I think Leo was born in California although I have yet to confirm this. My great grandfather's sister, Gussie Ray SCOTT was born in Nova Scotia. I know that VANCE is a common name in that province. I have yet to determine whether Leo's family moved from Nova Scotia to California or whether they were unrelated to the Nova Scotia VANCE family. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
