No, I have not. How do I do that?? Is there a charge for it? I am still new at this and am not sure where to look. I have tried the Social Security Death Index but was not sure if the couple of names I came across were him since we do not know his date of birth/death. We know about when. One place wanted to charge me something like 30.00 per SS# I sent them to see if it was who I was looking for. Thanks for any info you can give me!! Have a nice day! Cathie

Shelley, The Rhode Island Historical Society Library has a cemetery database where you can look up individual cemeteries and a master name index where you can look up by last name. I would suggest the local Historical Society or go to the town hall. The town clerk's office should have death records where you could, perhaps, find out the date of death and, maybe even, the cemetery he is buried in. Also, have you tried a gen-web. Family Tree.com has one and you don't need to me a member to post an inquiry on the gen-web board. You would be surprised. Someone doing their own cemetery search may have come across old Alpheus and could answer your posting. Give it a try. I, myself, need a bumper sticker that reads,"Warning! I break for historic cemeteries." I have found a lot of Thayer's that way. Let me know if any of my suggestions bring you any luck. Debbie

hello, debbie. i also love making the cemetery trips. my trips up to maine have always been fruitful with interesting sayings etc (thought some are so old, and worn, i have no luck at all).... but about washington. i'll keep an eye out. i'll ask at the records, if anyone with that name is buried there. i dont recalle seeing and Thayers in Nahnt, but i'm pretty sure i've seen some on the roads towards my grammys grave in lynn. it s a HUGE cemetery, so i'm sure there are a number of them... my former ebst friends last name was actually Thayer, so when i saw it on graves, it stuck in my memory. i'm going to attempt to make a trip out to the archives, so i could alwayscheck to see if a death record exists there.... i thinki may have had a few in Rhode Island, but they were likely 1700s and i'm not sure if i know for sure where they died. ... anyways, if you dont hear fromme within a week or so, then emai lme and remind me. i have an awful memory lately. -- -Allyssa- http://www.branchesandleaves.tk --Undocumented genealogy is mythology. --Whoever said "Seek and ye shall find" was not a genealogist --I'm not stuck.......I'm ancestrally challenged --I'm stuck in my family tree.....and I can't get down! --To a genealogist, EVERYTHING is relative! . > From: Annakari713@cs.com > To: MA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com > Message-ID: <22EBCDA5.510C372B.35C6BE50@cs.com> > Subject: RE: [MA-CEM] anyone need pix/lookups for Nahant/Lynn area? i'm > volunteering... > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit > > Hi, my name is Debbie Thayer and I have been doing the cemetery hunting for two > years now. Hi List, I am also trying to find out where George and Jennie Currier's youngest daughter, Helen is buried. She moved to FL and married a man named Kargel in the 1960's sometime but divorced him and moved back to Boston in the late 1960's or early 1970's sometime and supposedly died the very night she checked in to a Boston area nursing home. No one in the family was notified so I have no idea where she is buried and would really like to know, and would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you in advance, Connie

DId you try the land records and genealogical info in the Reserve/Special Collections Room at the Chicopee Main Public Library? ...Also do you know whether he was formally registered with any religion? Last -check his death record or other vitals through the Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850 for a certificate with interrment location
Hello Everyone, Is anyone familiar with old cemeteries in Chicopee, MA? I'm looking for the resting place of Alpheus FERRY (1783-1850). I've visited the FERRY plot in the old West Street Cemetery in Granby where he lived but no Alpheus. I'm told he might be buried in Chicopee but don't know where to start. Does anyone have ideas about this? Thanks, Shelley

You might try the North Adams Historical Society. I quickly looked on the internet to find this site.
