    3. Amy: I had been to Mt. Auburn quite awhile ago and while in Cambridge I decided to visit the Rindge St.. Catholic Cemetery. The cemetery is unattended and I didn't have any results. I recently read a resource that stated the Archives of the Archdiocese of Boston has the marker inscriptions for the Rindge St.. Cemetery and that's what I'm after. I wasn't able to find information as how to contact the Archives. thanks, Charles -----Original Message----- From: Amy and Tim Ritterbusch <genealogy@ritterbuschweb.com> To: MA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com <MA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 6:33 PM Subject: [MA-CEM] Re: Old Catholic Cemetery--Cambridge, MA >Do you mean the Catholic Mount Auburn Cemetery on Cottage St in Watertown? >It is on the border of Watertown and Cambridge. It looks like there is also a North Cambridge Catholic Cemetery on Rindge Ave in Cambridge. I'm not familiar with this one. 3. Charles - the work with the Archdiocese of Boston Archives is handled in writing. You send a request to them and they provide the information that they have. I have used them to find out information about my ancestors in Hyde Park/Readville and they provided Baptismal/Confirmation Records and Marriage Records. They have a limited amount of records - but is best to contact them directly. They will perform some services over the phone -- as far as telling you if those records reside with them. Your request for information to be extracted from those records must be in writing. Check out their website -- http://www.rcab.org/archives/welcome.htm -- to get more information and their address. 3. Just came back from visiting St. Mary's cemetery. I was able to locate my collateral ancestor. In wandering around the cemetery, I noticed a few gravestones with Irish County names and some with the townlands. If your Irish ancestor died in Lynn it is worth checking this one. I do not live in the area and cannot do any lookups.

    3. Judie, we probably are, but I don't know which link they would be from. Our original line started in England and came to the "new world" in the very early 1600's and the line stayed, spread out and became a very large family. Until recent generations, the Drinkwater's had 8, 9, and 10 children, who in turn had large families. There are still many Drinkwater's in England and Canada as well as other parts of the world and other states. We're just beginning to realize just how large the family really is. I'm new to genealogy and it's been a wonderful adventure so far and more to come. Our specific line stayed in MA or Maine and close to the coastline. Our reunions are held in "Lincolnville, ME" and I married a "Belfast,ME" Drinkwater. Don't know the ones from MA, but could easily be a relative connected a few generations back. 3. Good luck! If you've got a lot of ancestors in Essex County, I do recommend the book I mentioned (A Guide to Cemetaries in Essex County). It's got locations and descriptions of all the cemetaries, plus where their records are, if any. I've found it very helpful. jp -- At 6:52 AM -0700 5/31/03, charles s brack jr wrote: >Janet: >This is indeed very helpful. 2. Thank you so much for the information. I believe Elizabeth Ahearn would have lived in MA. I do not know where she was born. I believe she may be my Great Grandmother. If that is the case she would have been born in Ireland. I found an old photograph in my Grandmother's belongings. It is of a beautiful headstone that says the name and the year of death (1918). I will use the information you gave me to try to track this down. Lesley McQuaid

    3. I don't think there is any such central cemetery directory or if there is I would certainly like to know about it. There's always Find-A-Grave, but it is not at all complete: http://www.findagrave.com/ Do you have any clues as to where Elizabeth Ahearn would have lived? Where was she born? Where was she married? If she died in Massachusetts, you should be able to get a copy of her death certificate from the state Registry of Vital Statistics for $22 http://www.state.ma.us/dph/bhsre/rvr/vrcopies.htm I think with the name and date of death they can probably find it for you. Then the death certificate will tell you what cemetery.
