McDonough who died abt Dec 4, 1938 as there seems to be a disagreement about the day /year of her death. Hoping someone may either haave a listing or live nearby and happen across the headstone. She should be buried near her husband Edmund (aka Edward) McDonough who died May 12, 1909. I thank you in advance for any kind soul who may be able to assist me as I am living on the West Coast and unable to personally go headstone searching.

Hello, You can try this link for a listing of cemeteries in the Norfolk County, MA area. http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnisprod?f_name=&variant=N&f_sta te=Massachusetts&f_cnty=norfolk&f_ty=cemetery&elev1=&elev2=&cell=&my_functio n=Send+Query&last_name=&last_state=&last_cnty=&page_cnt=&record_cnt=&tab=Y If you have trouble with the link, try http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form and enter the State, County (Norfolk) and feature name (Cemetery) to have the GNIS search for the list. You might have better luck by researching death certificates or obituaries first, as you will have a better idea of burial location that way. Depending on when your ancestors died, your nephew may be able to research this information himself either at the Mass Archives at Columbia Point or at the Mass Dept of Health in Dorchester. I am also interested in this subject. We have McGraths and Lamberts buried in what the family terms as "Dedham Cemetery". The families were Roman Catholic and some mention of St. Anne's in Readville was were some of the family attended services. Any help is appreciated. Thank in advance for your time. Sincerely, Mary M. Kibbutz on that one St Augustine is in DOrchester and was the first RC cemetery in the Boston area - others were bur occasionally at Copely Hill ..and at Baker Street HolyHood started as Forest Hill and was purchased and consecrated for Roman Catholics about 1871. Will add another Boston list shortly. The Star of the Sea Cemetery in East Boston caterd to an enlarging Scotch-Irish Boston crowd especially Canadian Maritimers - though it joins the Boston North End today it wasn't always Italian.
Hello Maggie. Thank you very much for that information, I do appreciate it and I will try them, again, thank you. Best wishes. Bob.

Hello. I am trying to find out where my grgrgrandfather is buried, he died May 15, 1851 in Boston, Ma. His name was Michael Tenian, born in Ireland. I have been looking for him for over five years with no luck. would anyone know where Irish catholics were buried around 1851 in Boston? I have his death cert, but it does not say where he is buried. Any information on this will be appreciated. his children attended St Mary's church in I think was East Boston. Thank you. Best wishes. Bob.
Hi: I searched the web by puting in the words "Irish cemeteries boston ma and came up with the following old cemeteries: St. Augustine's Cemetery, 225 Dorchester St., South Boston, MA Old Granary Burying Grounds, Tremont St near Park St., Boston, MA 617-635-4505 Holyhood Cemetery,990 La Grange St., Brookline, MA 617-327-1010 Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale, MA. Found St Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 63 Moore St., East Boston, MA 02128, 617-567-0056. Maybe the church can give you some more ideas of early Irish Cemeteries, although East Boston is predominantly Italian and South Boston is Irish. Hope this information is helpful. I have just joined this list because I need help in find a cemetery where my grandfather's first wife and daughter might be buried. Eliza BURTON GINNEVER died in Dec 1878 in Needham. Then her daughter, Eliza, died in California in 1910 and her brother had her remains transferred to be buried beside her mother according to the mortuary records. I would like to know what cemeteries that were open then that might still be operating today so that I can write to find these graves. Any help will be most gratefully received. hello I have in fact heard that there is a death cert for her ( we think it is her ) in the county clerks office, on MT. Vernon St. However I really hope to tie it in with a news clipping, I have been told that the death occurred between the dates of Dec 26-27 and the year is 1932. Some one said that there was a news clipping for a 55 year old woman who was found in the River, however from the physical description, ( one hand is missing digits) this can not be my great grandmother, I do have one photo of her, with one of her sons, taken two years before death ( my grandfather looks to be 12 in the picture or so), so if I could find her death notice or a clipping that would be great, and please let me know what the cost would be so I can save for it. Thank you very much for your offer of help Lisa Coultrup
Lisa, Could you define "high and low" for me, so that I will know which sources you have checked? For example, have you tried: - Mass vital records office in Dorchester for the death certificate? Vital records are public domain in Mass, so you should be able to get a copy. - Newspaper articles from the time surrounding the event? Perhaps in the Boston Globe/Herald? Perhaps you could find a death notice and/or obituary? I will help if I can. Let me know what you have tried first. Debi C.
