Do you have any Pingree/Pengre/Pengry or Tuttle names in your file? Both families were scattered over the entire North Shore, including Lowell, Haverhill, Rowley, etc. Some Pingrees worked on the Boston & Maine Railroad (B&M) and were living in Lowell at that time. I think some Hoyts were on the same boat as the Tuttles that brought them here from England in the early 1630s. Check the passenger lists of the "Planter", which landed at Rumney Marsh (Charlestown/Boston) and the "Angel Gabriel", which sank off the coast of Maine, but passengers survived perhaps the greatest hurricane ever to strike New England. The Stetsons and Weatherbees are a little less likely to be connected to Hoyts, but they might be as well. Let me know what you come up with. Regards, Bill. Family names being researched: TUTTLE, PINGREE, WEATHERBEE, STETSON, ELLERSHAW, COTE, LEFEBVRE, WESTHAVER William R. Tuttle, Esq. TuttleGenealogy@aol.com
Hi Dave: I believe that Lowell was part of Chemsford at the time. You should hear from "Betty" near Lowell on this for sure. Hello ! I am seeking death and buriel records for Lowell Mass for Asa Hoyt who died in 1846 supposedly in "Lowell", but Lowell wasnt incorperated yet. His father James also died in "Lowell" in 1842 of Diabetic complications. The actual gravesite may lend a great amount of information, as I only have the year of death, and I have searched for 6 years or more. Where would the records be for this time period? What cemetaries would have accepted remains at that time? Does anyone have any access to these records? Any help would be appreciated !
http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2004/05/30/lost_grave_sites_no_problem/ Canton students have recorded a section of the Canton Corner Cemetery on Washington Street -- 1,000 gravestones - photographs taken in addition to recording data and a plot map all of which will be available later on computer. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Sandy, would David Lambert's book that you refer to in your reply to Peg include any mention of cemeteries in the vicinity of in Needham, Mass. in 1878. My grandfather's first wife died then and was buried in some cemetery that was still in existence in 1910 when her daughter died in California. My uncle had his sister's body sent to Massachusetts according to the mortuary who had received her body. I assume it was so she could be buried with her mother. If this reference has any such places, I have the dates of death of both women and would like to write to the various cemeteries to see what I can find out. So many thanks for your help. Would anyone know if Ashburnham has an Old Cemetery and a Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery? Or are they one and the same place? I checked my resources for Worcester County cemeteries and didn't find either one listed. I'm trying to find the burial lot for Parley and Harriet McIntire. Parley was a Civil War veteran. Peg
There's also the Fairbank and Russel-Burbank Cemeteries in Ashburnham. I haven't been to the Fairbank cemetery so I don't know how big or old it is, but the Russel-Burbank one only has about a dozen or so stones in it and they're from the 1800's. Hello, My great grandparents Alfred E. Rasmussen and Anna Rasmussen are buried in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. His second wife, Esther Rasmussen, is probably also buried there. I would be most grateful if someone would be able to take a digital photo of these graves and email them to me. Thank you, Chris Nelson criskity@comcast.net
Is there also an Old North BuryingGround in Fall River? I had some relatives died in Fall River , but the OLBG they were buried in was in RI. On the chance it was in RI I think that is online and if not the office will help you with their location. Nancy
I have Family Members buried in this graveyard in a Family Plot, this graveyard interments are not on the internet. How do I find out who is in this plot and when they died, I doubt they would have headstones. Thanks Gail Blanch
Gail, Try the City of Fall River Park Department , which is responsible for this cemetery. They may have more info for you. Since there are a number of sites where records can be found (but not one comprehensive site that I know of), your best bet is to search for "Massachusetts Cemetery Transcription" via your favorite search engine: Yahoo.com, Google. com, etc. You could also try adding the town name to the search. I found a nice site for Upton Historical Society in this way, which has transcriptions for five of the town's burial sites (http://webpages.charter.net/jryoung/index.html). Also, the New England Genealogical & Historical Societey (NEGHS) is adding cemetery transcriptions to their online data on a regular basis. To access, you would need to be a member. See http://www.newenglandancestors.org/ for more information. Some other sites are: http://www.interment.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/massachu.html http://www.accessgenealogy.com/cemetery/massachusetts.htm I hope this is helpful. Debi C. There is a Catholic Cemetery on Rindge Avenue in North Cambridge. I grew up in Cambridge and never heard of a South Cambridge. RJ
Hello. I am trying to find out which cemetery was open in South Cambridge or Cambridge, Ma in 1850. My grgrgrandfather died in 1851 and all I found out from his death record was that he is buried in what looks like South Cambridge, he was Irish Cath and living in Boston at the time of his death. Thank you. Best wishes. Bob. Researching, Tennihan, O'connor, Hudson, Cole, O'mara and Goggin.
