I am trying to find the cemetery that my great grandfather is buried in. His last address, that we know of, is: Heath avenue in Boston, MA. I believe a German section of Boston. Does anyone have a list of cemeteries in that area? Can someone help me look this up? I would like any information on John Kirschbaum ( born 1846 in Germany to 1900 census and beyond). I do not know when he died. Barbara
Found the following on Google: St Patrick's Cemetery - 2.1 miles NE - 2233 Robeson St, Fall River, 02720 - (508) 679-2535 Notre Dame Cemetery - 2.3 miles S - 1540 Stafford Rd, Fall River, 02721 - (508) 673-1561 Warren South Burial Ground - 6.1 miles W - Sowamsett Ave, Warren, RI 02885 - (401) 245-1339 I believe it's St. Patrick's that I contacted before with questions and they were most helpful. go to www.switchboard and type in cemeteries and the town and you will most likely locate it and a phone number. Does anyone have a phone number for the cemetery in Fall River? My mother's family is buried there and I would like to contact the cemetery and gather information. Thanks in advance. Joan Brown
Chester - There are two small family burying grounds in Rochester according to the Massachusetts Cemetery Guid by Lambert. The Braley Family Cemetery is between 135 and 155 Featherbed Lane. The Ellis Family Burying Ground is in the woods behind 69 Mattapoisett Rd. Do either of these locations sound familiar? Peg >Having been born in the town of Rochester MA I have to wonder >if anyone knows where this cemetery is located.
Chester, Check the US GenWeb site for Rochester, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~macroche/ You might be able to find some contact possibilities. Maybe even finding some info through the Tombstone Transcription Project volunteers there. Usually the folks volunteering through the GenWeb sites are quite helpful! Good luck. Hi Chester, I have the Guide to Massachusetts Cemeteries by Lambert and there are ten cemeteries shown for Rochester. Several are small family cemeteries, for the Braleys, Ellises and Ashley. The Town Hall number is also listed - (508) 763-3866. Janet--Do you know anything about St. Joseph's Cemetery? I have been researching Leroy (Roy) Calvin Eaton and he is buried there. Roxbury is part of Boston? He lived in Dorchester but on his death cert. it lists St. Joseph's. I am looking for deceased Eatons namely Mary Hill Eaton (not to be confused with Mary Ann Rasmussen Eaton who bought the lot for Roy, her husband). Also Harold W. Eaton and Gladys Eaton and Ruth Eaton. Do you know if this cemetery has graves on line where I can look? Thanks. David Lambert's <A Guide to Massachusetts Cemeteries> lists only one St Phillips Cemetery, which is located in Grafton, which is nearer to Worcester than Boston. There are several cemeteries in Mass called Phillips, but also none near Boston. The Roxbury cemeteries are mixed in with the rest of Boston. There are Adath-Jeshurun aka Grove St. Cemetery, Baker St. Jewish Cemetery, Boston United Hand in Hand Cemetery, Gethsemene Cemetery, Mount Benedict Catholic Cemetery, New Calvary Cemetery, Roxbury Eliot Burying Ground, St Joseph's Cemetery, St Mary's Cemetery, Walter St Cemetery, Warren Burying Ground, Westerly Cemetery. There's a Phipps Street Cemetery in Charlestown. I googled St Phillips Roxbury and found there is a St Phillips Parish there. No indication of a cemetery connected to it, though. Hope there's a clue for you somewhere in there. jp --- >Looking for the above cemetery, where death certificate states a relative >was buried. Cannot find a listing anywhere.
